Brown and pale SPS in the same tank

I need help coloring up my SPS. My coral turned brown from ALK swing and phosphate wicking about a year ago.

Many of my SPS frags are still brown but there are some new branch that grow faster dull and pale out.

All corals that come into my tank will brown out and never regain color untill they start growing new fresh. This can be exam in the sunset monti pic attached below (middle part from original frag is brown but both side have better color .

My tank parms are
Alk 9.5
CA 450
Mag 1400
Sal 1.026
Phospate 0.07-0.15
Nitrate 0.5
PH 7.8-8.10

I run my tank with

2 Maxspect Razor
2 parts doser from BRS
BRS GFO and rox Carbon
Skimmer is Reef octopus 2000int.
Filter sock

20% water change weekly never skipped.

it could be partially they're adjusting to the lights if it came from a different lighting system. Also where you mount it matters. My Copps Calacali acro is right under the pucks of my hydra and bleached a tad bit before it colored up. An efflo I had in the lower parts in the tank (couldn't find room to mount at the time) browned out from not sufficient lighting.

This has been happening for 2 years now and apply to all corals place anywhere.

I do not know if I should lower or increase light intensity/duration.

So I guess real question is, why I have brown and pale coral in the same tank and sometime within same colony.

How ? I forgot to mention that I dose Redsea nopox on demand. Should I up that ? Or should I up GFO ?

Not yet. At the moment I would like to defense my purchase as other people can successfully keep colorful SPS tank under this fixture.

A neighbor of mine who doesn't maintain his tank that often loses colors, dull colors, or brown outside of 0.02-0.05 po4. My tank is always around 0.02-0.03 so my issues were 100% light. Try dropping your phosphates (SLOWLY) and see it that improves it. You could always look into running a reactor with GFO instead of dosing the red sea no3-po4 (gets costly i bet)

I am running GFO reactor 24/7 with weekly water change.

may i ask what percentage of A and B channels you are running ? and how high is the light and whats the duration of each channel ?

i have the same light and sps are coloring up beautifully..

They are tank mounth 6" above water surface using wide len since a couple months ago.

I run w50 b75 for 7hrs with w0 b30 sunrise/set 1 hr each.

May I see a couple of your SPS under blue light and white light ? How long have you had the fixture? Thank you

my whites are at 70 percent for 4-5 hours and blues at 100% for about 10-11 hours ..

from my understanding whites are needed for photosynthesis and blues color up the corals ..

i have had the fixture for about 8 months or so but started getting more and more into sps only recently. what ever sps i had previously under these lights are all colored up nice and my lighting schedule was similar

id say 50% whites is too low light and 7 hours is too long for whites and too less for blues.

That is very debatable on white grow coral and blue color things up. Recent research shows white (aka red focus spectrum) hurt coral and blue grow and color up coral even more.

that is under 70% white and 100% blue ... and a quick shot with an iphone. no editing done.


70% white is too much for the zoas and palys as you see and they open when whites go down but thats not stopping them from growing.

So why do I have brown and pale coral ? Any one else ?
