Brown Chaeto

Hello.

I noticed my chaeto is starting to get this brown slimey foamy stuff on it and is starting to turn brown. All my numbers are good. Could my light be turned up too high? Or another underlying problem?

Appreciate any help.

Haven't yet. Haven't gotten a large ball yet. Only running the fuge for about a month.

I run it from 9pm to about 11am

It looks like its dying for some reason.Maybe it is too close to the light. Other than that I woukd double check salinity.

I would rotate the chaeto at least daily and make sure there is decent flow through the fuge. I would switch to a horticulture light, since they have the proper spectrum, and they are dirt cheap. This is the one I use.

I'm having same problem numbers are good bought chaeto put it in refugium at being of Nov. not it kinda just fell apart and has not grown at all. I bought a refugium light and run it 8 pm to 6 am. Any suggestions?

Either your light is not powerful enough or your nutrient levels are too low.
