testing another photo
At first glance I didn't realize there was 2 tint of it
but with this kodak it's really obvious
it seems as well that it is plating :\ I guess one of the 2 is at least some coralline

honestly it looks like this type of bacteria I had on my rocks when I started my 250. It did not scratch off and the only way I got it to go away was when I started to dose vibrant. It went back to rock color then light green and now it’s getting purple. Mine looked almost black and I could not even tooth brush it off. Sorry I don’t know if that helps or not. This was the first tank I experienced this in. It did look like brown/black coraline but I am pretty sure it was a type of bacteria

I see some coralline, algae, aiptasia, and maybe a sprig of macro.

Yours looks similar to the way some of my rock looked where I have more red coralline.

Yeah there is a lot going on in there...
I even think there is a little frag of bryopsis on the right but i'm scared to try and remove it , I will wait until my tank settles , its only been running for a little over a month even though that particular rock is way older from another aquarium.

I was going to say that looks like really old rock. I wouldn't kill anything on it. Jmo

My tank main idea is , if it's not out of control , there is no need to control it lol
:) I Heard a lot of nice things about vibrant.

If you look at a rock right beside it (wich is from the same aquarium , but was in a lesser light area , you see some but much less.

This is a photo I remember taking on my other aquarium.
You can see it looks like coralline but it's not quite that.
that would be the draker parts.
As for the lighter parts i'm not sure , maybe is it dying or growing i'm not quite even sure it is not simply covered with dinos lol or another bad thing lol.

I wonder if it is the sprophyte of the actual algae... or a kind os symbiotic algae maybe !? what about a mushroom , do they even exist in water lol.

My tank rear wall has spots of the same type of growth. I can say asterinas eat it.

Is it bacteria or Dino ? First thing I would do is to see how it plays well with your rock and coral. Simply with a turkey baster, give area gentle blasts and see if it loosens. If it does, calculate how long it takes to return, IF it returns.
What filtration are you using? (as it may be lack of flow and/or filtration.
If it does return and become heavier, you may reduce or omit white lighting for a few days and apply 1ml of Hydrogen Peroxide to alleviate adhesion and break down the elements and also add 1-2 ml of liquid bacteria daily. Do this 3-5 days and see how tank looks thereafter

Hello! How long you been dosing vibrant to get rid of this kind of bacteria? Thanks I think I have some of those in my tank is growing on my coraline algae.

What brought my attention is, it's growing in a very similar pattern as the coraline right next to it wich is very healthy too... (picture is a bit wierd) . I'm Really thinking to try vibrant, would thast thing destroy my macro algaes as well ?

I know this is an old post, but did you get rid of this problem? I think I have the same issue.
