What do y'all think? It doesn't disappear at nights. It is stringy with air bubbles.

Might be dinos, I would try to remove as much as possible and reduce the amount of nitrate and phosphates available to it.

I could be wrong but I don't think it's dinos. I have dealt with that before and this is seems different. This area was much thicker 3 days ago. I removed some and the area hasnt changed much.
I did add a little gfo Saturday to bring down phosphates some. Tested at .14 ppm three days in a row. Didn't test today.

I hate to say this, but those look like dinos to me. I wish I could tell you how to get rid of them. I had them for six months. I tried blackouts, hydrogen peroxide, water changes, nutrient control, and the kitchen sink. Nothing worked until I overfed and they converted to some kind of green algae. Then, a bunch of turbo snails cleaned that up in a few days.

To my understanding dinos fade with lights out, become free swimmers? This doesn't and foxface eats some of it as well.

I've seen a fish eat them (sail fin tang). Mine did shrink with lights out; they would get smaller at night, but never disappeared. Not sure what you mean by "free swimmers." I had pieces break free, but most of stayed put. I'm saying "dinos" because of the photo, (which looks like snotty brown mats with bubbles) at least, mine did. Maybe another photo?

The good news is. mine didn't kill any fish and only hurt a few corals. I just had to ride it out, which sucks because they are UGLY. Been totally gone for 18 months. I just fed heavy to get other green algae to outcompete the dinos. If you don't want to wait ( four months for me) IMHO, hydrogen peroxide might work, and blackouts knock them back... maybe a combo of the two? Water changes make them WORSE. Good luck!

I mean they enter the water column when lights are off. It very well could be dinos. it's just when I battled them 3 or 4 years ago it just seemed different.

Sure looks like dinos to me. Im sure thats not the answer you wanted. Im battling them now. Adding a large UV filter.

I'm happy to let you know how my UV works out. It just arrived today and I've got to find some time to go down to Home Depot and get the right fittings and adapters. I know it won't affect what's on the rocks, but my plan is to blow it loose and hope enough of it gets into the water column and passes through the filter to have a significant effect.

Sadly, I agree. Those look like classic dinos to me.

There has been a LOT written about dinos lately (seems a growing plague, lots of people want answers). I'd search for the latest intel.

Honestly, I'm not really sure what really worked for me. But I fed heavy, got some green algae to start outcompeting the dinos, and then a half dozen turbo snails took care of it all. But it was four unpleasant months for that to happen.

Please let me know. Thank you

I've beat it before with peroxide. Started out as a dusting on sand maybe two months ago. Started getting stringy about 3 weeks ago.
