Is this the beginning of dinos or brown diatom algae? The first time I had brown diatom algae it wasn’t this bad. I just did a 10% water change this morning. As of just now-
Ammonia-.2
Nitrite- not reading or at 0
Nitrate- 5
Ph- 8.0

The tank 3-4 months old, initial cycle was good, fish and inverts seem to be doing great. Try to change at least 20% of the water each week. I was just getting my confidence up to start getting into corals and this stuff shows up. Sorry for the crappy iPhone pics

Doesn’t look like Dino to me . Would also wait until ammonia reads 0 before starting with corals
Thanks for the Input. It seems more stringy than the last brown diatom algae I had. I tested my saltwater that I get from my lfs and the ammonia reads .2, forgot to mention that above. I hope it’s the red sea test kit I use and not the water

that looks more like Dino to me with it starting to get stringy and a bubble in it. Diatoms usually are more of a powder type where it looks like its just a rust looking film on the surface

Agreed. After doing a water change and tossing a uv sterilizer I had in the tank most of it seems to have gone away. But my water is a lil cloudy and there’s more bubbles at the surface than normal. I have a koralia 240 & 245 so water flow, surface agitation shouldn’t be the issue.
