Brown diatom

I have a bad outbreak of brown diatom algae my tank has only been up for about 2 months. Is this normal, and will this go away on its own or can I use something to get rid of it.

Diatoms during a new tank cycle is perfectly normal and a part of the maturing process. They should go away on their own

It's ugly, everyone hates it, but almost all tanks get it, and if memory serves me correctly with my tanks, it means you're about 60 -80% done with cycling.

anything to help speed the process like running gfo or water changes or turning lights off? usually how long does the diatoms last? I had a 100 gallon and lasted about 2 weeks, I now have a 45 jbj and hope it would take less ..
