I have been running a new set up for a short while. live and ceramic rock, live sand, water made from ro and have just added a pair of common clowns.
The tank seems to be starting the brown diatom stage and I was looking for a way to keep it from becoming too unsightly.
At the moment I do not have any sort of clean up crew ( the two clowns have only been in there for a day) and I was hoping to start introducing some kind of invert to take care of waste food and algae.
Can someone recommend what I should add as the first part of my clean up crew please?

Not sure what size tank we talking here but http://www.reefcleaners.org/ can put a pack for your size tank together or build your own.
You mentioned your tank was running for a short while how long is a short while?
Diatoms is a natural thing to happen when your tank is going through a cycle and for that we recommend that hobbyist wait for any lifestock after the first cycle and get control over the diatoms.
As of now you can crank up your skimmer some, do a small daily water change (how much depends on the size of your tank), reduce the photo period of your lights and feed less or skip a day or two till you get your nutrients under control.
