I have some algae growing on the top of my rocks only. It started out like a brown diatom bloom and it's just getting longer. I’m wondering if it’s hair algae? It does not siphon or blow off, takes some serious scrubbing to remove. It’s soft and flows in the current. Astrea, Cerith and turbo snails all eat it and are getting it under control but I’m curious what it is?
The tank has been running for almost 18 months. It sat on auto pilot for about 8 months while I was pregnant. I didn’t even turn the lights on during this time, just kept adding top off water and feeding the few hermits every couple weeks. My nitrates are at 15 and my phosphate is at .4 if it matters.
