brown hydroids, need help!

other than pulling the rock out I think you might be stuck trying to find somthing that will eat them like a nudi...

Yeah the only way is to take the rock out. I have been battling them for years in one of my tanks and the only way was to take the rock out. I have tried everything, Mike Paletta is one of our friends and he said to use iodine (Supplement) and use it as I would joe's juice. It seems to kill some but when you have too much you can't add too much iodine to a sps tank. We have tried everything.

We killed ours back with boiling water and a syringe but you have to stay on it. If you get the base of them they do not grow back. We have a lot less than we started with.

Thats how I got rid of mine. You can use Pickling Lime or Kalkwasser, same thing. Just mix the Pickling Lime/Kalkwasser powder with some of your tank water until it forms like paste. Then take a syringe (no needle) and cover the hydroids with the paste. Of course the paste will be white in color and will harden but will grow coraline over it in no time.
While you are doing this turn off all of the flow in your tank!!

Do this until you get all of them. It will take a while but it worked great for me. I tried getting rid of them for over 6 months and this was the only process that actually worked....

I have red on article about using Mrs. Wages Pickleing Lime as you would Joe's juice.
Any thoughts on that?

Be careful how much you use in one setting. I hit Jenn's tank with a lot of kalk paste for tulip anemones and it spiked the pH (I knew it would, but didn't figure it'd hurt much in a softie tank). She's got a 20L, but something to think about.

Off topic-did you notice we have our own forum here:)?
