Brown Jelly Disease?

We picked up a silver hammer at a frag swap on Saturday. One head wasnt totally open when we bought it but about 24 hours ago it opened and now has a weird brown blob in the center. I removed from the tank and found a tiny pink stick that was slimey, almost like a shrimp antenna. Please let me know your thoughts on this?

The blob appears to be sponge. Using a syringe, inject vinegar or air into sponge and it will be toast
