Brown on duncan branch

What’s this brown stuff on my duncan branch I brough it and I’m preety sure it had it too. just making sure it’s nothing bad. He’s been doing fine I’ve fed him and he somtimes closes up and reopens but I heard that’s what they do somtimes when trying to produce new heads.

Just looks like algae on the calcified skeleton. You can probably just scrub it off with a toothbrush. Careful of the flesh above it.
It’s been ther since I got it and I look as the pictures from when I first got it and it looks exactly the same will it be ok on ther or will it hurt him

I think it will be fine, your duncan looks fat and happy and seems to have a good eating response.
