Hello!

I need some opinions for a new type of algae that appears in my tank today. First thing, I’ve had some diatmos recently but they go away and come back every now and then which is ok. But today when I went to check the tank I saw that there was something new. Perhaps my diatmos evolved into something else?! I have no clue what it could be maybe someone here could help me out on what it is and how to remove it.

So with all due respect, I don’t think this is a new strain of slime algae. The coloration may be due to your lighting or the type of pellet food you use etc. My guess is cyano and it’s time for the Chemi Clean. Following.

Assuming you don't already have, I'd advise some trochus snails or maybe ceriths. To my recollection they have dealt with slime algae for me before.

I do have some trochus snails but they don’t seem of be doing much.

Alright thanks for the advice! Does chemi clean hurt any of the micro organisms or beneficial bacteria tho?

By new I do mean I’ve never seen it come out so fast I had a tinny bit but it went away but it does match the color of the pellets I feed tho.

Thought so. Chemi Clean won’t hurt anything longterm that you are trying to achieve. You’ll be doing a water change afterwards. Follow directions.
