Would a dying coral cause brown slime? Could it be decaying causing waste to be released? I had it bleach out but I left in there hoping it would come back.

It really depends on what's actually going on in your aquarium. Do you have any info on your current levels? ie.. Po4, no2, Ammonia, PH? If you have Brown slime forming on the dead areas of the specimen then it could just be dino's.

No this stuff is on everything everywhere, I've blown the rocks off, vacuumed the sand it keeps coming back.

Not sure what it is, But like most algae, I would say reduce amounts of feedings, lighting times. Then take a stiff bristled toothbrush and go at it, get as much of this stuff off as you can, then do a large water change, 30-40%. (hopefully using RO/DI) and see if that clears it up. A nice sized cleanup crew, landmower blenny, or any other grazing herbivores would help. But without knowing your water parameteers, size of tank, lighting cycle, dosing, stock, and what water your using, its very hard to diagnose the exact problem, I tried to give you the most basic of algae remedies. Goodluck :)

These are my numbers, nitates 0, no phos, I have no fish at this time I figure that's why Ph is a little high? Sorry should of gave these sooner! Thanks

So what happened with it? Did it go away, stay same, or get worse? If it went away it was probably diatoms. Did you take any kind of action to fix it?

It is still there, I take a tooth brush to live rock but it slowly comes back. It's everywhere, just a light film.

Salfiert, and red sea tests. The tank is 2yrs plus, I really don't understand what the problem is no coralline algae very little any way. I seeded with about of 1lb of lr. I had some clowns they died out of no where I had some sps (too early) they died. I'm very frustrated. I had fw forever no problem I can't seem to get this sw thing.

Just put new sediment, carbon block, di resin, the membrane is only 1 yr old. tds 0.
