Brown spots on sand bed

I am cycling a new tank for just over a week now. Today I noticed round/oval dark brown spots on the sand bed. With all of the tanks I have had over the years, I have never seen anything like this. It almost looks like burn spots. the attached pic is not great. Any ideas of what this may be?

Diatoms most likely. Be patient they should go away

Get a clean up crew. Snails like cerith, astrea, and trochus.

I agree with highgrade. Also maybe test for silicates since diatoms feed on that.

Okay, thanks. never saw that type before. Don't I have to wait for the cycle to complete before adding cleanup crew?
