I have brown strings coming off my coral no clue how to fix it. Ive been pulling it off to keep it clean. My tank water is fine besides calcium which I've been doing water changes to fix that but other than that it all good. I did put a new light on my tank could they be stressed from that as well?

Boogery rage; stop bothering it.

My zoas will get boogery from my swishing the water around them "too much". Moody little grumps.

ahh okay so just let them be and they will be fine

Very likely.

Ignore them for a good 15-30 min before checking again.
If they keep getting boogery, look for an irritant; could be something as simple as a small pineapple sponge growing on them.

Those are fairly easy to keep, except they don't like high flow. With new lighting, I generally start weak and ramp up every few days while watching how everything reacts. They could be adjusting.

Okay, are these brown strings coming from the center of the coral? The mouth? If so, they are expelling zooxanthellae. One of three things could be happening,

One : your water chemistry is off.

Two: toxin in the water/contaminates.

Three: your lighting has changed or light intensity has increased.

You beat me to it. Light intensity is the most likely culprit

What lighting is it?

How long is it on?

How high is the fixture off the water and what's the distance from the fixture to the corals in question?

my calcium has been off but I'm fixing it and ya i went from a current use orbit marine led to the marine pro so the light might be the main problem i think ill have to put my light higher above the tank and its coming from the mouth

and the light is right on the tank I've been looking to have it hung over top just haven't had the time to go get the parts

Move the corals in question to the sand bed till you hang the light higher. Shade them if necessary.
