well i upgraded about 3 weeks ago from a 75 to 120...its all new sand though..It looks like diatoms, how old is the tank? It is probably about to get a lot worse.
Did you seed the new sand bed with some of the live sand from your old tank?

nope
i know i should of though..
\ but wouldnt the 150lb of live rock be enough.Thats probably the problem. IMO there isnt enough chemical filtration because the sand bed isnt live yet and needs time for new bacteria to grow. I would suggest to do daily water test and be prepared to do frequent water changes for awile till your system catches up. If you have live stock, fish and corals that would be most important for them to keep any loss to a minimum. But if you have a friend who has room to baby sit the live stock that would be best that way u can let the new set up to mature a bit.

I agree with ya..gonna suck that crap up..i do vodka dosing but in new tank only been 3 weeks..My tank did the same thing when i replaced all the sandbed. I did not seed it with old sand and the brown algae went away on its own. I would be carefull about overfeeding. I see so many people overfeed and this will cause all kinds of trouble. I also started carbon dosing and have no algae except the corraline which is flourishing. When you do your water changes vacumn the sand bed lightly and i bet the brown stuff will disappear my friend.
I just did same exact thing in transferring from 75 to 120 and got a huge diatom bloom in sand due to new sand. Leave it alone it will go away in about a week or 2. Lok
