Getting some brown stuff on my sand, being a noob, think maybe algae, not sure , need help on identifying and what to do thanks

Diatoms. If the tank is new do nothing except your normal maintenance. It will resolve on its own. This is part of the ugly phases.

If the tank is not new (meaning more than 6 to 8 months) then brush it off the rocks and vacuum the sand with every water change and adjust your water change schedule. Either less more frequently or more at the same schedule. Also look at your lighting schedule and adjust that. HOpe that helps.

tank is a couple of months old

Yes to rodi, tank is a couple of months old

Cyano and diatoms are typical in a new tank. It goes through an ugly stage unfortunately. I always just let it runs its course and once the tank fully stabilizes and ages it will disappear naturally

The red is cyano. The green might be cyano also. I dont see brown. Maybe i'm colour blind

the red is cyano bacteria. Same deal. Let it ride. Just stay up on water changes and don't over feed. They thrive on nutrients.

BTW these 2 quick videos by the BRS team cover cyano and diatom management techniques.
