I have a 45 gallon cube tank. I set it up last week of June 2018. I had to add 2 fish and a bubble coral from my old tank since I was trading space with new tank. I got new live rock from LFS for new tank, and bought caribsea fiji pink sand. I used a jump start fluid in my tank so I wouldn't go through new tank syndrome. Since starting the new tank I get this brown looking sand. I have emptied out 15 gallons of this water 2x since set up with siphoning of the sand both times. Within 24 hours the sand started turning brown and some brown on the glass. CUC 3 hermit crabs and 2 turbo snails. the snails have done a tremendous job keeping the brown stuff cleared off the rocks no longer have brown stuff (gross hair like). I've used RODI and I have used tap treated water with no luck.

Can we get a picture? New tank my guess is it likely just diatoms, but your "gross hair like" comment sounds interesting.

Looks like diatoms to me, but admittedly I'm no expert.

If you really want them to be gone, turn off your light for 2-3 days, they'll gone, and add some nitrifying bacteria when the lights are off, it will keep these stuff away for a long time.

Tip: if you turn the white up or your blue off you can take better pics on a normal cam.

Being a 2 month old tank with 2 fish, imo you should be doing weekly water changes. I do 50% water change once a week for first couple months then slow down to bi-weekly. Prolly solve your problem.

Hard to tell exactly with the lighting, but looks like diatoms. Not a huge deal and totally normal for a newly cycled tank. As others have suggestion you can cut back lighting, remove nutrients during water changes, or get some clean up crew members that love to munch on diatoms.
