brown stuff

so i recently remove a brown looking algae sticking on the glass... when i remove it, its smell like a dead shellfish does anyone know what is that... im trying to search about brown algae but it always show diatoms.. can diatoms grow on the glass..? also they dont look like diatoms it looks like a smudge..

and yes im giving my tank with an intense light im guessing thats what causing it so i change it im just curious on what is it..
