Got this guy (blue/purple tort?) from a lfs today for free, it was in their “discard” bin but looks like there may be hope. Sorry for bad photos. I’ve looked at it under a magnifier and dipped in revive, found nothing. I also trust these guys quite a bit to have pest free tanks as they aquaculture almost everything. The brown tips have algae growing. Some tips are unaffected. They did have a power outage during the snowstorm at the store so perhaps alk caused?

Would appreciate help. Should I cut the affected tips or let it be? Anything else to do? I have it in my 40g shallow frag tank and it runs at 8-8.5dKh, ca 440, Mg 1200-1400 (I can’t tell), 10ish nitrates and ~0.08 PO4. 1 gyre 230 and a hydra 52hd. Thanks!

Could be a great addition. Yesterday, I stumbled upon an amazing acro at my lfs and bought it. According to them, it had terrible coloration and nobody touched it for 4 months! So they moved it to another tank with different lighting and it became a real beauty, and she finally got my eyes! Hope yours turns like it.

Thanks everyone! Appreciate it, I’m hoping it pulls through

Do not snip them until the coral is otherwise doing well, but they will heal and grow new tissue faster than they will grow over old skeleton. I would snip them off.

Thx, I’ll wait a few more days. FWIW at least it didn’t get worse overnight...

Do you have other acroporas in the tank? If so, are they doing well? Provided they're healthy, this one will re-encrust pretty quickly. This little guy was in a bad way but recovered. Today you'd never know there was a problem.

Wow that looks great.

4 other frags in the same tank, all have been doing well for about 2mos now, encrusting and good PE.
