Browning Out. What Does it Mean?

If I were to do that I would use the water out of the tank to minimize shock.
Now there will still be shock from the change in lighting
 
I have some LED lights for my upgrade. Theyre in 54w arrays. Could I take my dying SPS out of the tank and put it in a 5g bucket with freshly mixed water, a heater, and a power head (all under the big LEDs)? Would that be better than leaving it under the power compacts?

54w array isnt very strong imo
 
Like increase duration of "daylight" lighting?
intensity. a lux meter (intensity only)or par meter. either way really. both are a guide.

Anything between the lamps and water will have a drop in intensity, diffusion and ultimately par
once you have a meter youll see its not really much at all.

no. leave them in a stable tank.

if you can add the led to the PC I would. Your likely at 23000 lux at the top of your tank at the waters surface. I would shoot for 35000 or 40ooo.

Before my recent DT upgrade I ran a current orbit 48" v1 no lenses (used $50) and 4 t5 (used $40) and got 40 47 ish K lux.
if you lux meter your LED at the same distance you intent to mount them you will know how much intensity you will get.

Not trying to butt in on the op. But how do the aquarium tops play into cutting down on par readings? I to have some that will not color up and some that look great.
Me too, but depending on where the coral came from it will have different needs. Maybe too much nutrient or not enough light. or one is wild caught one is a friends frag.
for lids, once you have a meter youll see its not really much at all.

So I upped my fixture to 43k lux from 13k is that too much? It's set now at about 65%

Possibly just too quick.

in terms of par(fixture constant of 60 is estimated)
13,000 lux /(constant 60) = 216 par
43,000 lux / 60 = 716 par

for the OP, a PC has low spectrum rating esp if its an Odyssea, (a coralife is better.) SO does a chinese mars aqua. A good MH has high spectral quality, so needs less intensity(lux /footcandle/brightness)
Fwiw a chinese mars aqua has a fairly low spectral quality, but substitutes higher intensity to achive the same par.

so a weird easy way to figure out what you have is take a lux reading of the 56k/actinic pc you have devide by 60, thats your par.
If it were a Panasonic PC of the same color it would be devide by 54(thank you D riddle)
A chinese Mars at a 1 to 1 W/B ratio seems to be 65,( thank you mars aqua users here and world wide with par and lux meters.)

and if you lived closer I would just give you one of my t5 retro kits to use with your new leds.
 
Wow that would be awesome, but nope too far.

I'm not even sure how I'd check the lux to be honest.
