I recently starting dosing 2 part....so far I have only needed alk but I noticed my mag is a little low.....I have 3 questions on this stuff....

1. Does it make sense that I am filling half the jug with powder?

2. For the life of me I cannot get all the magnesium sulfate to dissipate.... There is always some crystals on the bottom.

3. For 200 gallons, it says I need almost 60oz to raise it by 100 ppm....does that make sense? Seems like an aweful lot.....

TIA!

1) There is an awful lot of water in the hydrated magnesium sulfate and/or magnesium chloride salts, so, yes is the answer.
2) Have you tried warming it?
3) I got 54.5 oz.

Does the undissolved material look like some fine dust, or the larger crystals of the original material?

There can be some calcium sulfate that precipitates when people mix magnesium chloride (that often has a little calcium in it) and magnesium sulfate.

Regardless of what it is, I wouldn't worry about it as long as it is a small fraction of the total solid you added. :)

The calculator I use says 67.6 fluid ounces of B-ionic Magnesium to boost 200 gallons by 100 ppm, but perhaps the potency has changed since it was made a number of years ago:

Thanks guys! The crystals are decent size but most is dissolved. I haven't warmed it. I'm nervous to dump that much in at once...maybe I'll try a few cups first lol

There's nothing wrong with going slow, and I wouldn't boost 100 ppm in one day anyway, since there is concern about impurities in the magnesium. I'd boost it by 25 ppm per day max. :)
