BRS 2 part to Aquaforest 123 dosing conversion.

Also given the results of switching to Aquaforest from brs continue to be positive, i will probably mix my own 123 in the future to cut costs. I considered mixing my own to start with but decided to try it out first. I saw you can mix it standard or strong which I believe is just double the strength of everything so you can dose smaller amounts. I like that Aquaforest has released the mix and it is not just a stab at the actual mix.

If cost is a primary consideration, folks might look to a DIY two part (like BRS) and then monitor some of the more likely elements to be useful beyond calcium and alkalinity and magnesium (potassium, iron, molybdenum, etc.).

I recently came across Aquaforest products and the results shown online seems promising. I want to give it a try to see if this would help my drab looking colors, but Im not really fond of the cost, esp their 1, 2, 3 part solution. The good thing about Aquaforest is they are pretty transparent on the chemical composition of their products.

Since Ive been mixing my own 2 part solution for a while, following randy's recipe, I already have all the basic ingredients to make my own 3 part solutions based on Aquaforest concentrations and came up with this

66g of calcium chloride dihydrate per 1000ml
80g of sodium bicarbonate per 1000ml
10g of magnesium chloride hexahydrate per 1000ml

I still have the buy component strong A, B, C, K and Reef Mineral Salt, but at least I can save some bucks from using lab grade Calc, Alk and Mag powders instead from Aquaforest.

Correct.
CaCl2 x2 H2O would be 64,4 Gramm to be accurate acc AF concentration (instead 66g)
