So I have a Coralife Biocube 29 that has been running for about 6 months now and I am planning to upgrade to an AI Prime HD in the next month or two. I just can’t stand the standard PC lights and the fans are so loud. My question is has anybody used the BRS DIY mesh lid kit on a Biocube? I would love to do a custom acrylic top but I just can’t afford that luxury right now. Just wondering how you guys went about doing it.

I have a Biocube 29 also. Took the lid off to add a Kessil A360. Love the light. Made a glass top. Glass kept in too much heat from the light and maybe protein skimmer. I made the BRS screen top a couple of days ago. Easy and works great. I keep the screen top on during the day and glass at night.

I got the frames ,spline & corners at the local HD then ordered the screen from BRS . Saved some bucks . If You have a metal cutting hack saw it's easy to make your own .

I know this is an old thread but would love to see photos of the DYI top

OOH Didn't think of that . In that case, a kit from somewhere with preformed frames would be needed .

I could never get a DIY screen top to fit the curve of the biocube.

What I ended up doing was just using eggcrate(light diffuser), and stretching the BRS screen over that. I held it in place by using a soldering iron and melting the screen to the eggcrate.

and yet no one has a preformed frame. BSR said it might be possible to bend the frame to fit. Has anyone done that?
I don't think bending it is a good idea. I got the BRS one and it's no different that a screen kit from the Box stores. I still had to cut mine to fit.
