OK I am working on getting my system more stable and have run into some Ca/ ALk questions. I am now using a RKL to dose BRS recipe one. I am seeing the following changes in my ALK/Cal
12-22 KH 5 Ca 360 Mg 1350 ( I know this is bad, except the Mg and probably why my coral turned brown)
12-23 KH 6 Ca 390
12-24 KH 7 Ca 415
12-25 KH 8 Ca 410
12-26 KH 8 Ca 415 Mg 1380
12-27 KH 8 Ca 410
I have been adding 140 ml of Calcium solution every day since the 22nd
I have been adding 170 ml of soda ash every day since the 22nd
I have not been adding Magnesium
My question is that I have been adding about the same amount everyday trying to slowly bring my KH to 10 and my Ca to 435, but it seems that once I hit KH of 8 it stopped wanting to rise with the dose that BRS gives to raise it one KH. Ca stopped rising after it hit 415 3 days ago. Why is this happening? I am going to start using the dosage pumps tonight, because I am going to be out of town for the next 5 days. Should I set it up at what I have been putting in to try and raise it, hoping that it stays constant while Im gone? I could then try to finish raising it when I get back. Sorry for the questions. I thought I understood how to run my Ca/Alk and that I was just being lazy, but apparently I havn't been adding enough either.
Just so you know I have been testing the RKL and pumps with water and measuring it everyday to make sure it is consistent.
Thanks for the help in advance
