BRS dosers controlled by Apex or Bubble Magnus Dosing Unit

I'm scoping the a doser for my tank. I current have an Neptune Apex and love the flexibility of coding features as I need them.

For Apex Users: If you had a choice would you get a couple (maybe even 3) for the BRS dosers and control the dosage via the Apex or get a Bubble Magnus Dosing Unit.

Bubble Magnus and free up the Apex for other items. IMHO

I have the brs hooked to my apex. Works great and the cost was right.

Brs dosing pumps will cost about $240 for 3, the bubble magus will dose 3 for $275. The brs will take up 3 slots in your apex, so it will depend on if you have the extra spots available. If not it will cost you an extra $120 for 4 more outlets.

I'd go Buble Magus on this one. I have a few tanks on Apexes and would not recommend running dosers this way. The main reason is that you will have to adjust your dosing every now and then. The Buble Magus makes this a breeze and automatically divides the dosing so all of your ALK, for example, doesn't get dumped into the system at once. If ran on an Apex, you'd have to fix the timing of each dosing every time you adjusted the total volume dosed.

This is great point that I did not consider and definitely sways my opinion on which direction to go.

The most compelling feature of the BRS pump via the Apex is the ability to build in contingencies you just can not replicate with the BM pump. Fishmonger as you know

, I now have the additional outlets to handle the BRS pumps. I'm probably over thinking this and can't even think of what conditions the contingencies will be needed. This maybe just a case of K.I.S.S (Keep it simple stupid).

What are the noise levels of the BRS and Bubble Magus dosing pumps in comparison? Also, I've heard of a few people having slight issues with the pump heads breaking off easily on the bubble magus doser.

Right now I'm also considering the above, but I'm including the Litermeter 3. It's more expensive but is supposed to be almost silent and much more reliable.

I personally have the drews dosers on mine and I like them with the apex... However I know the extra ports on the EB8 would be nice to have available...

If you go the BM route, you can always use the apex as a backup. Use the same catches as you would for dosing and force the BM unit off in case of emergencies. Just an idea, but I don't know what that would do to your BM programming either.

Haha I didn't even connect the dots until this post. For me, it was mainly a matter of being able to pick up the BM at a discount and not wanting to fuss with programming/reprogramming of the apex. I'm sure some people can change and edit the Apex functionality in their sleep but I like to keep things simple. The less I mess with the Apex, the more confident I am it's working properly. Also, 3 BRS pumps takes up a bit of space and they need to be mounted or placed somehow neat. I'm an OCD neat freak so 3 BRS pumps floating around under my stand wouldn't fly.

FWIW, both pumps make noise and are not silent. You'll hear the dosing either way IME but BRS pumps are quieter than the BM.
