Really? so you have to mix the 2 together? I rarely dose Mag, I mixed up a gallon over a year ago, and have used it like 3 times. Seems my WC's keep the mag up. So I'm not really familiar with the mixes for Mag.
You are correct. It takes two different additives to make one magnesium blend or mixture. I add about 100mL of mag to my make up water for water changes and I add about 250mL of mag to the tank once a week. IO has fairly low levels of CAL and MAG so I dose in the bucket before adding it into the tank at water changes.
They say you need to add 20 ounces of it per gallon of cal/alk additives but I've found it to be slightly less in my tank.
It's weird because my MAG levels will be rock solid for a week or so and then all of sudden just start falling. Seems like once I get the Mag between 1300-1400 it stays there but once below 1300 it drops like a rock!
That's how this whole thing works. Once your levels are corresponding to each other well by dosing correctly they should stay stable. But if goes high, another will drop etc.
That's the fun in dialing things in. Which is why we are going to discuss this at the next meeting.
I need some gfo and salt also rubble. I also need a heater and ato any suggestions. Tank 130 gal two overflows Aqua c ev 240 Aqualife t5 auto lighting. I am probably a dabbler. Getting ready to fill my new tank finally.
