I just found a old unopened package of BRS magnesium. It has to be at least 2 years old, can it still be used is my question.I got extra mag in a kit to bring up mag but never used it all. Thanks

My answer would be why take the chance. Even though it may be perfectly fine, If It were my tank, I would just buy new magnesium. I personally dispose of any dosing supplements if they do not get used up within the year and buy new. Just my 2 cents.

I bought the starter pack from BRS including the gallon jugs. Because my mixed reef isn't too demanding of my trace elements my first gallon of each mag, calcium and alk has lasted me just over a year! And even with those jugs being a year old, they are as good as day one. Dosing everyday with no problems or changes in parameters. With that being said, I still have the other 2 full sets of all the 3 dosing packages that I plan on using once these gallon jugs run completely out. As long as its sealed and kept in a cool dry place I don't see how they can go bad? No risj if u ask me. Mix it up in a gallon jug. If it doesn't settle or come back clear once mixed then id say there is something wrong. But other than that, no worries.

YES! It's still good. Either magnesium chloride or magnesium sulfate are extremely stable. The only issue would be if they have "clumped up." And they would still be good, but more difficult to get into solution.

You'll be fine!
