I have the BRS Mini Reactor running on my system. I am using the MJ1200 and hard line that was sent with the kit. After using it for a few weeks it is the loudest component on my system and needs to be redone. I have a few options, but I would like some expert suggestions/opinions before I move forward.

Currently the MJ1200 pulls water out of my Skimmer section, runs the water through the reactor and pumps it into my return section. I can get the BRS Reactor silicone tubing kit and run the reactor with the same configuration it has now just change the hard line for soft.

OR I could get the silicone tubing and Mur-Lok Stem Adapters and T off my return pump adding a ball valve and run the reactor.

Is it beneficial to pump water from my return into the reactor and pump the water back into my skimmer section or should I put it back into my return section? Or should I keep the MJ1200 and pull the water out of the skimmer section run it through the reactor and pump it into my return section?

It is worth noting I am currently running GFO and Carbon through the reactor.

the noise is most likely vibration transfer from the MJ pump. If you have the capability to a feed line from the return this will most likely reduce noise and improve your efficiency. I would then allow the output to drain back into the sump.

I made sure when I installed the tubing and pump I kept the pump off the sump floor. I have had to move it off the sump wall a few times, I know that generates noise. I also feel like the hard tubing is a factor. The output currently runs into my return chamber in my sump. If I T off the return should I pump the water back into my return chamber or my skimmer section? The only reason I question pumping water back into the skimmer section is because then I'll be skimming tank water with water that has ran through my reactor. I don't know if that is counter productive?

It does not matter where your returning your reactor. You are over thinking it. Your skimmer is likely only taking in a fraction of water that is passing by it....btw i agree with the previous post about the best way to feed the reactor is to use a manifold off the return.

the reactor when properly used does not create any noise, the running vibration being transferred from the mj pump to the hard tubing can cause noise even if the pump is not actually touching anything. Your best solution will be to run the reactor of your return if you can. If not you can try silicone tubing, however the hard tubing is easier to connect to the pump and reactor and does not pinch easily.

The small amount of water flowing through the reactor will not have an impact whether your run in through the return section or the skimmer. on my old frag tank put the output in the return.

This is what I came up with. I am using 1/2" Braided Vinyl hose for my return pump - T it off and connect it to a 1/2" Mur-lok Stem Adapter Tube x Hose Stem. This will allow me to use the existing hard line and ball valve. Add in a 1/2" Mur-lok RO Elbow Union Push Connect then go directly into the reactor. Use the existing hard line as the output.

I'll pick up the clamps locally. Trying to figure out if there is anything else I need from BRS before I place this order. hmmmm
