I am thinking of getting a BRS mini reactor and running the rox 0.8 carbon and the bulk gfo. I know the carbon will be exhausted before the gfo. My question is can I get an extra sponge and separate the two . Will not need much for my tank as it's a 25 gallon cube with a 10 gallon sump. Figured the should be enough room for the gfo to move a little and keep the carbon in place. That way I can put the gfo on the bottom and carbon on top to replace the carbon easier. Maybe even cut a sponge in half between the carbon and gfo.

Having a mini reactor I don't think you will have much luck at all trying to run both in the same reactor. If for no other reason the water flow through the carbon decreases rapidly within a week as things build up in it. But I also see absolutely no way you would have space for it to tumble in half a reactor (I struggled to get it to tumble right in a full mini reactor, I can't imagine trying to cut that space in half).

Having run GFO for the last year, my suggestion would be to not run GFO and just use carbon. Consider carbon dosing as an alternative to GFO (which is what I have moved on to).

Well that just sucks. May just do the carbon then. Have to look into carbon dosing more.
