Well, for the past 10 years I've been running GAC and GFO mixed in a Magnum canister, but it finally bit the dust a week ago, and try as I might, I couldn't revive it. I can't really complain since I won it free at a MACNA (along with an entire 90 gallon tank, fish, etc.).

So I just replaced it with two BRS reactors. I like the new system a lot better since I can control flow and can see inside, but well see if that translates to an apparent benefit to the tank.

I'm using ROX carbon in one and BRS standard GFO in the other. :)

I have the dual canister from their Black Friday sale I replaced an old LF 150. I really like the build quality and the fact that I can replace my carbon before the GFO. Also the flow control seem a little better then the LF.

I use the two canister on my frag tank. I use their rox and top gfo. I decided to mix carbon and gfo at a 2-1 ratio in 1 canister and the first chamber I just let detritus settle. If I had to do it over I would have got 2 separate reactor with 2 separate pumps. What are your thoughts on mixing the two?

I mixed them in the canister and it seemed OK, but I bought separate reactors and pumps for the new setup. :)

I did exactly what u did 6 months ago. Took away 3 of my canisters and replace it with a single reactor and a double. I couldn't agree with you more on how much better i like it.

I use the dual setup too but lately I have been mixing carbon and gfo together. I just like doing that instead of trying to get the perfect tumble for the gfo. I like the looks of the mini housings they have. Thinking about getting some of them since I never use the whole chamber and have to use the foam discs.
