Alright, asking for help here. I've tried everything. The middle canister is leaking from the top. Water is finding its way through the threads and dripping down the sides.

I have:

  • Changed the o-ring. Three times from two different sources.
  • Applied gasket silicone.
  • Thoroughly cleaned the seating surface.
  • Switched canisters around. It's always the middle unit no matter which canister I use.
  • Switched out the carbon filter to make sure it wasn't keeping the canister from fully seating.
  • Used a half a roll of Teflon tape in the threads.
I do not see cracks and the unit has never been dropped. Any other ideas?

I’m looking at the paperwork that came with my 5 stage. It’s says limited lifetime warranty. But does not say what it cover. Your probably right about them not doing anything but maybe they might have a suggestion on how to stop the leak

Did you change the filters before it started leaking? Are you sure it's coming from the canister?

There's a fitting between the canisters, I just broke mine trying to get the canister off and it leaks down from top of the and into the area of the canister thread and then down

That’s what happened tome this weekend changed my filters and started to leak at the fitting. Need to order a new nipple this week.

I had a defective filter canister and they 100% refused to honor their warranty, and then would not respond at all after multiple follow ups. Lost almost all of my business unless it’s something I think they will lose money on or something I cannot get elsewhere. Few things I dislike more than a dishonest company that mocks their own stated stance. They won’t even respond when I have tried to call this to their attention here. It’s to my benefit and their loss, I’ve saved hundreds at a time, spending thousands at a time with other businesses since. #unethicalBRS

That is why I don't like to have mine connected like that. Can't see what is going on between the two canisters. I've seen this posted several times where there is a leak between the 2 canisters setup in this fashion.

I think since it is a solid piece connecting the 2 canisters, the unscrewing and screwing on of the housing causes hairline fractures in the connector and they start leaking. I go for the ugly look and have tubing going between mine.

With the time between filter changes on the sediment and carbon canisters I usually have to smack the canister wrench a few times to break it loose, even though it only gets hand tightened upon installation. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that's what it is, now that I'm thinking about it.

@tbaity1401 @Opus - you guys are geniuses. Geniuses, I say! Or I was too dumb not to think of it. :p It is coming from the connection between the two housings. Not the best design, but at least now I know how to correct it and fix the leak.

Thanks for the help.

OK not a big deal. Your leaking from a 1/4 NPT nipple. they ar a buck from BRS. Call and talk to Adam. Mine is 11 years old and I just bought those a a new canister) mine is OLD. Rebuild is easy. Just take your time threading. Lowes only has brass and that chews up the tops so don't do it but for short term.

BRS has great customer service. Give them a call.

Happy to help! Bad thing for me is that picture is from a 1 week old unit . BRS 4 stage water saver. System is mounted and the leak is extremely minuscule so haven't bothered to do anything. Assuming it only gets worse though.

Call them. They will make it good!

Probably faster to run to home Depot and get some thread sealant

This stuff works well

Brs should make it right but it'll be at least a week

I gotthe parts in 2 days. The lid was an issue. this ubit is 10 years old nothing for BRS to make right. The nylon fittings are old, they dry abd it cracked so no thread sealer. Anyway the brass ches the hell out the lids so I replace them every time I have repaied an RO unit..just the first time I had to repair my own lol!
