Brs titanium heater fail and apex for the save!

Well I have read that BRS titanium heaters were not the best….I now agree, had one die on me 2.5 months in.
I know I should have two heaters on any tank it’s the only one in our house that doesn’t yet as it is the new tank on the block and am still buying equipment for the new 150….
Luckily apex sent me an alert that my tank was cooling and was able to swing home and throw a couple underpowered heaters in as a temp fix until new ones arrive in the mail!

Keep in mind that people only complain about their heater when its not working. Nobody posts "today my heater is working just fine" or My brs heater is 1 year old and working properly" unless you specifically ask them to. I have one, the previous place I worked at runs 4, and all of those are working just fine and they are a year and a half old.

But yeah I do think heater controllers or alarms are a fantastic investment given how bad a heater failure can be lol

thankfully haven’t had this issue with my BRS heaters. thank goodness for failsafes!

I had one of my 600W fail about four months in. Thankfully, I buy spares. That reminds me… I need to submit a ticket. Like OP, Apex saved the day.

Totally agree… maybe it’s just This one, maybe I buy two more and see how it goes the real failure was one heater

been reefing 30+ years, all drop in heaters fail, not using a failsafe is risky.

Best method is heat exchanger but pricy and not plug and play.

Haha, I bought two heaters of a different brand.. although I know it could be just this one, they lost me at 2.5 months

2 BRS heater and 1 controller down for the count...one was 3 yrs old, new one after that was 4 months old...luckily the 2nd one was under warranty...
