Brute Trash can Mixing station

How difficult is it to clean the brown crud out of the brute cans, pumps, etc? Hose? Pressure washer? Scrub brush? I just started using RC. Haven't even done my first WC with it yet...

A heck of a lot easier than cleaning it out of a tall water container with a small top opening!

I used hot water heater pans. I then piped them together and since I set mine up near my hot water heater I connected them to the overflow that end up outside. (see last picture of first post in build thread) They did save me when the first uni-seal failed as I dealing with another issue at the same time requiring multiple water changes and I had to let it just leak out in the mean time. Main lesson learned (almost too late) was that you want to make sure you put the hole high enough on the can that the edges of the drip pan don't interfere with the plumbing.
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm leaning towards installing the bulkheads on the bottom/center of the brute cans so all the water can drain out and also it'll be a nice flat surface for the bulkheads. Do you think this is a good idea? Trying to come up with a design to include the drip trays into this. The stand will be elevated like yours. Wondering if drip trays are overkill with bulkheads in the bottom of brute cans. For added insurance I could silicone the inside of the bulkhead. Here are my thoughts about the drip tray.

Option 1: Brute cans sitting directly on drip trays. Drill a hole in the drip trays for the PVC to run through it and use a uniseal around the PVC. My mixing station will also be next to my hot water heater and ejector pit. I have a pitched floor drain about 10 ft from the mixing station area. Figured I'd just plumb the drip trays to the floor drain or ejector pit.

Option 2: Drip trays on floor. Would require leaving gaps between the 2x4's to allow water to escape and reach the drip tray. This method probably wouldn't catch all the water in the event of a leak but it should be good enough considering it's going in an unfinished basement.

Also going to add a 3rd tank for the RODI waste water that I will use to water the garden - better than dumping it down the floor drain. Interested to see what my waste water ratio is. Most systems claim 4 to 1.

I like your stand a lot. Looks solid as a rock. Good idea to use joist hangers! My initial thought was to use cinder blocks for the legs, but I might go with 4x4's.

I used a Brute can for my mix tank and did not drill any holes in the can itself. All are in the lid only. The assembly photos below are of the DI storage tank but the holes are in the same places.

The tank on the left is the mix tank. I can roll it out to add the salt mix. once the water is ready I press a button and the controller will automatically transfer it to the center tank which is for fresh saltwater when it goes low. Once the water has been transferred the controller will automatically refill the mix tank with DI from the RODI. All I have to do is add the salt mix. The tank on the right is DI storage for ATO. Both the fresh salt water and DI tanks have pumps you can use to dispense either DI or fresh saltwater into containers at the tanks.

Do you have a build thread for this? I am about to set up a mixing station and this looks like an amazing setup to replicate...would love the step by steps.

I do have a build thread here on R2R. Click on the build thread contributer banner on one of my post. It should take you to it. I have photos starting on page 6 post #116 of the brute cans.
