So I have been storing water in a brute can for top and water changes for a fresh water tank. I only run the heater when I’m going to do a water change and the rest of the time it just sits there. The water is just tap water I don’t use ro on the fresh water tank. I have noticed that when it sets for a couple of days it gets a lit slimy on the side of the can. I was just wondering does this hurt any thing and does rodi water do this also. Am I supposed to be running heater and circulating the whole time.

The slime would be bacterial growth from the stagnant water. I would always keep it circulating, but not necessarily heated.

No, ro/di does not do this... at least not in my case.

I get a little slimy if I were to rub the sides of my saltwater storage. I generally don't.. lol.
Like you, I make large batches and it often sits for weeks. I do turn the pump on for a few hours before using it. If it's in the dead of winter, I'll heat it for a day as well. No problems so far.
