This is the second time I’ve replaced my uniseals on these 44G brutes. They keep cracking and leaking. It’s driving me crazy at this point and ready to just toss them out for some norwescos.

I even silicones as best I could the last uniseals inside and out and still leaked. One leaks when it’s 80% full and the other leaks at around 40% full.

Is there a way to fix this? Would schedule 80 bulkheads work?

A bulkhead is much better option than uniseal. Uniseal works in smaller canisters where pressure is low.
Bulkhead if put in right will Most likely never give you problems.

That is weird Ive been using the same unideal on my brute for 8+ years not one issue.

Btw on bulkheads how do you get a proper seal on a round brute? Thought it needs to be a flat surface?

I am not sure of the curvature difference between brute vs rain barrel. i have 2x 50 gal rain barrels which are also round with no flat surface and i have 4 bulkheads 2 in each barrel (1" drain, 3/4" return) with no problems. Never leaked.
Hand tightened all the way till cant turn them anymore then a tool to just push a hair more.

I just got two schedule 80 bulkheads from Dr Fosters and Smith (aka Petco) they were 40% less than BRS. If that doesn’t work I’m just going to go with 65G norwesco tanks [emoji30]
