Hi guys I just ordered some Fluconasole to hopefully destroy and remove bryopsis from my system for good ,I have read the post on it several times to get a good understanding on it and all I have seen is that this product does the job with no adverse affects . My question is are there any reefers out there that has used it and had detrimental affect on there reef and to be clear I don't mean u used it but it didn't work I mean I mean are any of u who used it had bad experience with it I.e crashed the system or die get fish I just want to cover all bases before I take the plunge and use it any help or info on this would be mutch appreciated thank you.

Well hi all after reading all the positives about Fluconasole kicking bryopsis to the kerb I took the plunge and ordered some it arrived today so I performed a 10% water change took the cup of the skimmer removed carbon .
I then waited 2hr checked my levels .
Calcium 420
Alk 9
Mag 1320
Salinity 1026
Nitrate 15
Phos 0.010
So after water change and checking all levels I mixed up 8 x 200mg caps with some rodi water this amount covers my system but got a couple of caps left here are some pics below. So after couple of hours fish are fine corals are fine no adverse reaction at this point so fingers crossed everything goes well day 1 of 14 .

Hi guys we'll three days in after dosing the tank with Fluconasole decided to up the dose with another 400mg so in total tank has been dosed 2000mg corals and fish are all well macro algae in sump unaffected ,so 11 more days to go , I have a question did you guys leave your skimmer of for the 14 day treatment or did you turn it back on after 3 or 4days any input would be mutch appreciated thank you.

Only negative I experienced was having to treat it 4 times over the course of a year as it would come back in smaller and smaller patches. Haven’t seen any pop up in 3 months but I have a lot of rock for the bryopsys to work with. No detrimental effects on any of the livestock in all those treatments.

Did u leave your skimmer of for three or four days or the duration of the treatment.

I left my skimmer cup off until day 16 (also reduced feeding by 75% due to no skimmer)... only loss i had was my nerite snails (all died on day 5). do not overdose or you will have issues. I also ran an airstone for 25 days total.

The 1st 2 times I pulled off the skimmer cup for around 5 days, the last couple times I've just left everything running as is. Either way it didnt seem to make a difference. Everytime I've had to treat for it it's visually gone within 6 days. But I have left it in for up to a month the last couple times. It doesnt seem to hurt anything so if it pops up again I will just treat again.

Thanks for the info I underdosed by 400 mg which I added today and I have more than enough flow and aeration my skimmer has been on from day 1 but the the skimmer collection cup is off thank you .

Well day 5 of 14 everything in tank is still ok skimmer cup is still of I don't really see any difference in the algae but I'm starting to think it may not be bryopsis I have in my tank but will let the Fluconasole run its course for the next 9 days then take it from there oh also checked nitrate lvl about 20 ppm and phos 0.012 .

I'm going on the second series of treatment of fluconazole... The first treatment got a majority of the GHA through 14 days, we did a 20% water change and now are working on the last vestiges of GHA rest on my clove rock we're into day 3 and we're seeing good results. As for our corals, we haven't had any issues our zoas are still growing new polyps, BTA is doing well and deepwater acro is thriving.

The picture is of the last pieces of GHA in the QT tank. This is after a year of battling it with vibrant, hydrogen peroxide, scrubbing, and shaving.

Take a pic, if its fern like its bryopsis, you should have seen it greying or pretty much visually gone by now if its bryopsis.

Well day 8 of treatment put skimmer back on no ill affects on refugium or corals or fish but the algae still there so definite don't think it's bryopsis anymore so will need to id the algae then fined a remedy for it.

It took longer than 2 weeks to kill all of my bryopsis so just be patient and go as long as you can without doing a water change. The longer you wait and keep it in the system the more effective it is, in my opinion. I’ve been bryopsis free for several years now thanks to fluconazole.

Hi thanks for the feed back I'm going to let the treatment run its course the only thing I've changed is skimmer is back on nutrient levels are ok so won't be doing a water change until needed ,but when I went back over the post on Fluconasole the bryopsis is more like a fern type algae but mines the more I look at it does not look like the fern type in the Fluconasole post I've put a pic of it above hopping someone may I'd it but thank you very mutch for your feedback.

Well 14th day of Fluconasole treatment haven't performed water change or added carbon all inhabitants of tank are well and no adverse affects to be honest the algae that I have as I'm not sure if it is bryopsis or not does seem to have thinned out a bit but there is still quite a lot of it but I will leave tank a few more days and then see what my next step will be . Have water ready for water change but I will cut some of the algae back as I have done this during the treatment and it seemed to help don't no if it's because your damaging the algae wen cutting it and that exposes it to the Fluconasole more who knows I will check my levels tomorrow and if nutrients are still 20 ppm I will leave it a couple more days and then do water change .

Well 20 days down the line from when I dosed Fluconasole all inhabitants of the tank and levels are fine and for once I get a nice level of phosphate reading so although all the algae ain't gone things are better looking and with the better phos reading then hopefully the phos and nitrate balance the system out better still haven't water changed or added carbon gona give it a little longer or does anyone no or think the Fluconasole will have been used up by now.

Hi guys with regard to Fluconasole use what is the longest time anyone has run the treatment before water change any feedback would be mutch appreciated than you
