Hello everyone,

i recently noticed Bryopsis is slowly taking over my live rock with a lot of zoas on it along with smaller areas through out the tank.

I will be dosing Kent Tech M Mag. Heard it does amazing work! I always try to stay away from chemicals but this time, I feel I have no choice. With me having a 20 gallon… what is the recommended dosage everyday for a tank this small and will higher mag affect any of my corals or clownfish pair?

if anyone has gone down this route, please share your experience. Little nervous by doing this.

Higher mag does help curb but not eliminate.
You will need to pull all you can by hand and remove the Actual roots with a dental pick or small crochet needle and reduce white light intensity.
Is tank at or near a window?

Nope not by a window. I run 5% whites for like 6 hours. Rest are blues. No red or green involved.

Stupid amounts of Tech M didn't seem to do much for me, but Fluconazole did.
Agree flux works but sometimes does not get to the roots

The kent m at 1600-1800 has been reported to work in the past. Ppl have moved on to vibrant and this flucoze stuff. Hths. Its an ingrediant in the kent m not the high mag that does it. Hths all

Correct that is what i heard as well. I am doing smaller doses a day. 54 mil a day will raise it 50 ppm. Since i have a salifert test kit, it doesn’t go past 1500 so i wrote it out to know where i am and daily.

The only thing that got rid of Bryopsis for me was this:

Mixed reef... no corals, anemones, inverts or fish showed any signs of being distressed from the treatment. When you dose it, dump it in your filter socks so it doesn't turn your tank into a snow globe for a couple hours.

So to share with everyone. I actually decided to not dose after the first day of dosing the mag. I took it back to get my money back snd bought this stuff called reef flux. Recommended dose was 2 capsules but I popped 2.5 to be on the safe side that it gets all the algae out.

i took my Carbon out along with filter pads a few days ago. I also have 0% whites on which is none lol.

hooefully this stuff kills off the algae and i can get my nitrates back to 10 instead of just being at 2. I think the algae is def eating my nitrates and probably phosphates too. Phosphates are sitting at .05 so i am okay with them there.
