Since I am battling ich and lost all but three of my fish(one LM blenny in qt and 2 chromis in DT tank, trying to catch the buggars). Lost my thangs and wrasse that used to keep my tank clean, I think I have a new problem, not sure if this is bryopsis, but if it is, how do I get rid of it? My coppapods have finally exploded and I have tons of them on the glass, so how do I take care the issue?! Help! If it's not one thing, it's another! Ahhh!

Google Fluconazle reef tank, it works pretty good.

Here's the magnesium story.....it was only Tech M magnesium that had an effect on bryopsis. However, they have reformulated and took out the secret ingredient that was killing bryopsis....so it doesn't work any more.

Fluconazole is the why to go. There are long threads here on R2R about the success. I've used it and there was no visible impact to other inverts/fish/inhabitants of the DT. It truly is a miracle drug. Highly recommend it.

That is a definite fact about the Tech M? I've been battling bryopsis for 6 months and have been trying to raise my magnesium for a few weeks. No difference, just huge clusters of bryopsis popping up overnight. If indeed Tech M is no longer a solution, do you still recommend raising the magnesium while treating with fluconazole?

No need to raise magnesium. Fluconazole is a miracle cure......it just dissolves away. Highly recommend using it.

You will be amazed at how well it works with no apparent impact to other life in your tank.

Just be ready to handle the spike in N's and P's when the bryopsis begins to die and melt away. I think it was day 14 or 15 that I started with frequent water changes to lower N's and P's.

Just for the record... it did work quickly and amazingly. Nothing else was affected. Awesome.

go to the algae forum and check out the thread. If you can't sift through the whole thing, read the first few pages, and then hit from the end back. I just got done with it. Have a couple thin areas beneath rocks but considering I had thick mats of it growing over rock, it was a miracle. Waiting to see if I need to retreat. I also lost 9 of 13 fish to marine velvet and one fish had ick that came and went. Fish all in QT. had to tear rocks apart to get them. Fallow for 76 days. I'm almost 20 days in.

Oh, copepods are a good thing. They also eat algae and stuff. My tank is now crawling with them. When my fish come home, they'll be happy.
