Hi guys, about 2-3 months ago I started having bryopsis in my 43g tank. A couple of months ago, I bought Bryopsis Buster online from a LFS and dosed 5 caps (200mg flucanazole per cap) as per the instructions. I then did something quite stupid: after I turned off my skimmer (as per the instructions?? it should say leave skimmer on without cup for oxygen), i thought it was a good idea to also do a tank black out simultaneously. Guess what happened? No skimmer + black out = no oxygen exchange. Dumb.
After 2 days I thought maybe thats not a good idea and removed the black out cover over the tank. Immediately I noticed a millepora, a staghorn acro, my dallas acro, stylos and pocci all had their polyps closed and the dallas and green montioras became brown. My 2 different birds nest corals had dying tips and were also closed up. So 2 days after dosing the flucan, I basically cancelled it and did a few big WCs and put back in my carbon and GFO etc. Good news is 8 weeks on, everything else that didnt die is back to normal and thriving, full PE, all greens montiporas and dallas came back to bright green from brown.
Now that all my corals are thriving, guess what else is thriving too? The Bryopsis. So i decided to dose the remaining 5 capsules I had today. Immediately I notice my millepora and birds nest polyps start to/completely retract. Sorry there are 270+ pages in the stickied thread on Bryopsis I didn't read them all.
So my question is: has this been reported here before? Did I get a bad batch of flacanazole or is this normal? Below are before and after 30 mins of dosing pics. Btw, is that even a millepora (behind the cyphastrea)?
Thanks guys.
