I have had a cyano/diatom/dino thing going on while using Vibrant as well. I'm not sure if it was caused directly by something in Vibrant or indirectly from Vibrant changing my tanks chemistry like dropping some of the nutrients quickly but not others. I can tell you that you don't want to over-do it with Vibrant as it will drop your nitrates fast enough to make your sps corals really unhappy. If this happens I would lower your lighting intensity and feed a little more until they recover.
Yep, I am in that boat with starving corals... getting stump remover today.

Does anyone who has treated have any urchins or starfish?
I have a short spine urchin in my sump. It hasn't been affected by the treatment to my knowledge and seems to be doing just fine. I also have a bunch of small asterina and small brittle starfish that still come out at feeding. As far as larger starfish I cant say yes or no.

I just ordered fluconazole and can't wait for it to arrive thanks to @Rick.45cal ! I've been battling it for 8 months now. And I'm pretty darn sure that harvesting it has actually made it spread. I really really can't wait to get started. Here are a few pics of my tank taken today. ALL the dark areas is bryopsis.

Anyone dose phytoplankton during the process? I like dosing it for my pod population.

I stopped dosing everything during the treatment but this was before we figured out that you can probably just run your system as you normally would and still have the treatment work.

I've been translating and reading up on the person who originated the diagnosis in the forums with fluconazole. Here is a bit of information I read and translated from Jose Mayo.

There is nothing wrong with corals and fishes, and I noticed that the grasses are not as green as before, besides a few drops of sand ... let's see if it's all over.

Anyway my not tang to eat and have ordered a fox face ...

Christiano,

Please note carefully here and report to us if there was any progress or not, or in any sense. I think that this exchange of experiences between all of us is very important and if we can solve the problem, it will be a breakthrough that will benefit everyone. I had no certainty that fluconazole was effective in controlling Bryopsis, just a "grounded hope" based on this abstract:
Sterol and Fatty Acid compositions of the marine alga Bryopsis pennata (bryopsidophyceae, chlorophyta) (http: //www.ncbi .nlm.nih.gov / pubmed / 16414750), which I reproduce below:

"Abstract
The green alga Bryopsis pennata Lamouroux, collected from the coast of Karachi, has Been investigated for its sterol and fatty acid compositions Four sterols and fatty acids have 19. (78.12%), while other three with ergostatic skeleton occurred in traces. (1) H-NMR, El- & GC-MS techniques The sterol having cholesta skeleton was found to be major constituents (5% to 9%), and 7% to 12% (12.58%) than 12 unsaturated ones (27.41%), the latter included 7 monoenoic, 2 dicenoic, 2 trienoic and 1 pentaenoic adds. The highest amount (30.24%), cyclopentenyl undecanoic and heneicosapentaenoic acids were the unique and rare fatty acids detected.

The mechanism of action of fluconazole is based precisely on blocking the synthesis of ergosterol, one of the structural fats, also of the cell wall of Bryopsis. With ergosterol blockade, in the case of Bryopsis, it is expected that it will stop growing first and then languish because of the "defects" that the lack of ergosterol imposes on the cell wall of the seaweed, exposing it to aggression Of the environment.

If, now that seaweed is more vulnerable, you raise magnesium levels a little (by dosing magnesium chloride), algae will "pro sack", but you have to go slowly if the amount of algae is large, because when you die , Can release humic acids and toxins into the water, so when they start to "yellow," it is good to have a good activated carbon bag in range and the "ready" skimmer.

Big hug

PS Out of curiosity: And algae glasses, how you are doing?

Cell membranes are breaking down right now. Thats why its laying flat. The more that breaks down the more white your going to see. So exciting!

There are like these super stalks that are still standing in my tank. They are super dark green. Low light bry and gha still here but weaker.

So once it all begins dieing put the gac back online and run the skimmers. What about gfo? Should this be offline until treatment is completed (14 days)? Should we not do water changes during the treatment (I am thinking not) and what about stump remover dosing?
