@prsnlty you dosed somewhere around 168.75ppm of NO3

You were just trying to give your bryopsis a good "last meal" before you kill it... I see how you are... devious! :D
I know [emoji26] [emoji26] [emoji26] [emoji26] [emoji26] I hope they enjoy it too ! [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23] lol

It's at 40ppm now. Also dosing nopox to help, wet skimming as well. Debating on a single 50g wc or the 2 consecutive 27g. Fish are fine, some corals aren't happy (mostly a chunky bn and montis). Takes too long to fill 50 back into the tank and the corals are in the air 30minutes or so. What do you all think?

I have a 10g tank that is holding some infested rocks with corals on them, from my tank break down. This tank has a green filamentous algae that I thought was gha but not so sure anymore.. Also bubble algae and aiptasia. I have done manual removal, carbon dosing, black outs, h202 dosing, shortened light cycle, only ran blues all to no avail. It would die back but always return. I setup a new display tank and refuse to put the infested rocks in until the algae is resolved. I've also been using this tank as coral quarantine for a couple frags I picked up, A hammer frag and toadstool. the hammer has been in a week and had been closed so I stopped h202 to let it adjust. It is now opening up.
I got Fluconazole 100mg tablets yesterday, did a 30% water change today and dosed 100mg just wanted to see how the hammer reacts since I'm using tablets and not as much info on them, Esp in regard to a acclimation frag..
My wife calls this the apocalypse tank..

Ok, top 20 Q&A. Here it is. Ill make corrections and add. Reply or PM me.

Byropsis Cure FAQ's Sheet

1.Q: Will Fluconazole kill Bryopsis?
A: YES. As of 2/2/17 Fluconazole is completely killing all Bryopsis. There have been no reports of it NOT working.

2.Q: How does it work?
A: I'll make as this easy as I can. There is fatty symbiotic fungus that makes up the cell membranes of the algae. Fluconazole is deadly toxic to the fungus. The med breaks this membrane apart and the cell dies. "Turns white and disappears".

3.Q: Will Fluconazole kill anything else in my system?
A: So far Fluconazole has not killed anything other than bryopsis and GHA. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING else is unaffected.

4.Q: Where do I get Fluconazole?
A: There are many sources online. The most popular/best choice is to purchase the medication in 200MG CAPSULE.

5.Q: How do much Fluconazole do I use?
A: The suggested dose is one SINGLE dose in the amount of 20mg per gallon of water. There are reefers who are experimenting with using 10mg per gallon right now, but none with completing the 1st "round".

6.Q: How do I prepare the the medication?
A: I have noticed with the capsules it is very tough opening them without crushing the capsule. This is what I did. Use a razor blade and cut off the rounded end of the large outer half of the capsule. Then you can very easily pour the contents out into a glass of RODI water or tank water. The amount of water doesnt matter, but make it enough to be able to mix the med up. The med isnt very soluble, but mix it up best you can. Preferably dose at night when fish are asleep. Then pour the entire dose into the DT, or sump. Some have put it into their sump socks. I dosed directly into the DT.

7.Q: How long is the treatment?
A: 14 days.

8.Q: Do I remove my carbon?
A: Yes.

9.Q: Do I remove my skimmer cup?
A: Its suggested for at least the first few days if not the entire remove your cup. However, there are reefers treating while running their skimmers witgood results.

10.Q: Do I take my ATS offline?
A: Yes. I would take it offline, completely sanitize it, and reintroduce it after all the bryopsis is 100% gone.

11.Q: Do I take my bio reactor offline?
A: No.

12.Q: Do I take my GFO offline?
A: Yes, treat the GFO as you would with carbon.

13.Q: Do I continue to dose H2O2?
A: Yes. It will not interact with this med.

14.Q: Do I continue to dose Vibrant?
A: Yes. This SHOULD NOT interact with this med. It may help to dose Vibrant as it will assist in NO3 export.

15.Q: Do I take my carbon reactor offline?
A: Yes.

16.Q: Do I do a WC during treatment?
A: No. unless it cannot be avoided and a WC needs to be done to save life.

17.Q: Will Fluconazole kill my chaetomorpha or other beneficial maco's?
A: We are in current treatments involving these types of algae's? We think no it will not harm them.

18.Q: Will Fluconazole kill the parasitic algae known to burrow through LPS corals?
A: This is currently being researched.

19Q: What other nuisance algae's will be killed by Fluconazole?
A: Fluconazole kills the green algae Derbesia also known as GHA. It seems that GHA takes longer to kill than the bryopsis but it still dies. Bubble algae is unknown due to most reefers treating their tanks have been using Vibrant. Vibrant kills bubble algae very well.

20Q: When can I do a WC?
A: At the end of the full 14 day treatment. After treatment has completed you will go back to your normal running system. Do a WC as your NO3/PO4 levels may be high from a lot of dead algae. Carbon goes back online to remove the medication. Skimmer cups back on.

Note - I am not responsible if you do this treatment. It is experimental, with a lot of proven success. I am doing this because, like many other reefers I had a Bryopsis invasion that would kill it for most hobbyists. You dont have to give up. This is the alternative.

For #2 mine didn't have a lot of white it became more of a green matted mass.

Jackie, Next time 2 tablespoons in 500ml of DI, then 25ml should be an increase of 1.5ppm in your tank. (Ballpark est.)

I'd do the two smaller ones, you've knocked it back within reason at this point. Don't overdo the NOPOx! I'd increase above your norm, but not excessively.

Haha I had one of those! Broke it down and rebuilt it. Cooked the rock in the dark for months.... we'll guess what's back and it's not even fully cycled yet. I will be doing the same.

She'll be calling it the "miracle tank" in a week

great Q&A @steve01

Maybe add a few notes to tell everyone;
  1. to do a WC BEFORE treatment,
  2. normal dosings for colors, alk, calcium, magnesium etc are ok to continue,
  3. carbon dosing is ok to continue,
  4. leave lights as normal,
  5. when taking carbon / GFO etc offline to clean offline equipment and change media to stop reintroduction of bryopsis on start up that may be trapped in them,
  6. don't remove anything from the tank/sump like corals, chaeto etc and reintroduce them after treatment.

Thank you :D
It's funny because I've never had No3 in my tank before - ever. Couldn't get any even with overfeeding. Think I made up for it [emoji12]
Nopox I only increased 4ml. Don't really like the stuff but started doing it with vibrant. Haven't dosed vibrant since before cyano cleanup.

although not confirmed that it would help, but maybe also worth using a turkey baster etc to dose fluconazole directly over effected areas, especially shaded areas and cracks and crevices ?

I like NOPOx and MB7 or BioDigest from prodibio. Both really seem to eat the detritus out of the rocks. The bacterial slime that's produced with regular carbon dosing seems to really feed pods like crazy too, and they end up all over my tank.

Once there isn't any green algae in your system it will be easier to maintain small but detectable amounts of NO3 and PO4. All that bryopsis sucks all that stuff up quick.

Ha, I took all the rock power washed, dried outside, power washed again and dried, and then used it to setup the new tank. So far just diatoms and green film in there, I just started it back up right after Christmas.

I got a 30ct bottle of 100mg tablets so, assuming whatever I have responds, if it pops back up I have plenty on hand to kill it

Mine was sun-dried and scrubbed then cooked... after 2 months in my grandson's 29g the aptasia started showing up then the bryopsis appeared a week ago ... my newly rebuilt 45g has brypsis showing its ugly self. Some of this stuff is tuff! Hope yours stays clear of it :)

I hate aptasia as much as bryopsis and then comes a certain green paly I wish I never laid eyes on lol. At least it didn't come back to life after this process

I have some of those big green palys. They live on a rock in my sandbed. They came mixed in with some goochester zoas, which are thriving quite nicely, next to the big green palys. Hopefully they won't escape their little island prison.
