The Vibrant has made my Bryopsis slow down and it is easier to remove it, but it is still hanging around. It did kill off my bubble algae. I just ordered the Fish Fluconazole 200mg capsules to deliver the final blow. Great thread.

is anyone seeing cyano flare up while dosing fluco ? I would be worried that with all the die off of bryopsis there would be a lot of fuel for cyano

Is this stuff available with prescription locally if I managed to get my vet to write me one? Or are they going to come in the tablet form and we need the capsules?

I did see some cyano in a couple of others tanks that used Fluconazole but they may have already had it before. My advice would be(since running your skimmer doesn't seem to hurt the process)if you have a bunch of Bryopsis to get rid of it might be best to just keep skimming. I didn't notice any increase in my cyano but I only had a few spots.

Most vets will not write a prescription without seeing your animals first. No matter if it's a dog,cat or fish. I'm not sure what is in the binder for tabs either. You can purchase the capsules online.

Has anyone using an AWC setup dose their SW holding tank? I would like to leave my AWC running. I would dose my tank at the recommended dosage and then dose the AWC setup. It's a 10 gallon setup, so I was thinking I would empty one pill into it and just let it run. Thoughts?

I believe @Rick.45cal runs an AWC but he has turned his off for the treatment. Dosing both would probably be fine though just to match your DT.

I thought about using my smaller reservoir (30 gallon) with treated saltwater like you described and doing the same thing. My main reservoir is 150 gallons so I don't want to taint it.

I don't think it would be a problem to treat your 10 gallon reservoir and run the AWC the whole time. I decided for my purposes I would just turn it off and then turn it back on once the bryopsis is gone. (Or in two weeks which ever comes first). Though it's arguable whether you would need to treat the AWC water. We don't know: how long fulconazole is active in our systems or what the minimum concentration is required to kill the bryopsis. Without really knowing those it's hard to say whether leaving it on with regular make up water would affect the results at all.

That being said if I was in your situation and could easily dose/and then empty and clean the reservoir after treatment I might very well just go ahead and do it.

My bryopsis looks VERY unhappy today, and the CUC is consuming it as fast as they can now. Kinda crazy.

So now we are at day 8 of the treatment and all but the last few stubborn stalks are gone. As best I can tell there is only one remaining green stalk but it's definitely turning white as well. So while I was hoping today would be the day that I would find a clean frag plug,it appears that it may be another day(possibly two). Either way,I'm happy with it! :)

I have a 120 that is very infested with bryopsis, ordered some fluconazole and should be here tomorrow. Planning on used the suggested dose for my 120, but I also have a 40b that I have set up as a emergency tank/holding tank for liverock, has a bunch of liverock from my display infested with bryopsis. I'm gonna try half the suggested dose in that tank to see if it has the same effects.

Has anyone seen any issue with zoas and other corals with this treatment.

I realize it's a big thread already, but this question has been asked a lot and answered a lot. With the caveat that this is a new treatment and it hasn't been subjected to widespread testing yet - fluco doesn't seem to affect anything but bryopsis. No one has seen any negative reactions from dosing with fluco.

Someone mentioned that their hair algae was looking a little less healthy. Any update on if the hair algae was affected? I too ordered some last night. Received a shipment confirmation today.

I would be interested in seeing what half the dose would do. Maybe it would still kill the Bryopsis but take longer. Not sure. Let us know how it goes.
