My fluconazole arrived today. I'm going to be treating for gha only. Question.....do I run my skimmer or not? Just remove cup? Thanks

I removed my skimmer cup for the first few days but others have kept skimming the entire time and saw the same results.

Thank you for taking the time on these! Wonderful to have some confirmation as well as to see where it got it's start.

I like that "hyper-medicalization" of the hobby is on their minds!!! :) We strongly tend to run the opposite direction in the 'States.

I'd still like to read more on the breakdown of Azoles once they go down the drain with a water change. In particular fluconazole, in salt and freshwater ecosystems.

I didn't read too much on it yet, but I didn't see anything at all about UV alone breaking it down like they suggested....only articles about specialized processes being investigated to break it down.
No problem. Those quotes on Jose Mayo came from another link that I didn't post in my previous ones but they are from the same reef club forums that he is a part of.
I am curious too about what happens with this medication in saltwater and in freshwater.
My water change goes into my backyard. Being that I have pets I plan on emptying it in another spot to ensure safety.
He also mentioned other anti fungus medications in the zole family, which I've read up on, that possibly could be/ could have been used as well. What's your thoughts on that?

Any suggestions on the Bioreactor/Hydrogen Peroxide/Water Change

I stopped dosing everything during the treatment but I don't think that it's going to hurt anything if you keep dosing H2O2. A wc before treatment is up to you but I would not do one during the treatment. I think some have dosed Vibrant at the same time so you should be fine there.

I'm hoping Fluconazle gets rid of the bryopsis, but I also get this algae that grows in the plumbing, and from time to time the pump's kick it out. It looks different in water, but here's a picture of a piece I captured. 3rd day into treatment and I seen a bunch come out of the plumbing [emoji1] I'm still waiting for Bryopsis to start dieing however.

Seems this may be the same but weaker without the same lighting. JMO though, I could be wrong.

A big thank you and congrats to all the brave reefers that are leading the way with this!

A quick question please... presumably we can use 150mg single shot capsules, if enough are used for the right dosage?

In the UK we can't get 200mg version :(

What? I didn't follow what you're saying.
I was saying that the algae that is inside of your pipes maybe the same as the bryopsis you have but looks different because it's not getting the same lighting. It is just a thought. The bryopsis in my sump looks different than what is in the DT but it isn't. It is lighter in color because it gets less light.

That is correct, just have to get the proper amount needed for your tank.

150 mg dose capsules are fine to use.

3 days in waiting impatiently.
I had ran my skimmer at night not sure if that made a difference. Last night I put in another 200mg as I'm anxious to get rid of this stuff.

My skimmer is on, and it appears that the Flucon is working just fine.

I left mine off for 24 hours, just to ensure the Fluconazole is dispersed and has time to act on the target.

My concern is as the algea dies off (dosing vibrant also) the nutrients will be released back into the water column. So rather than fear a spike i replaced the cup.
