  • Yes

  • No

  • I'm treating my tank with it now.

I start my dosing tomorrow at last !!!! :D

Just need to;
  1. feed fish and corals well so they won't go after Flucon (I won't feed corals during 2 weeks so I don't add extra NH3/PO4)
  2. syphon substrate (I won't syphon for 2 weeks so I don't remove any Flucon, but I will stir the bed if needed)
  3. remove GFO and GAC reactor and clean, (I'll leave it OUT for 1 week)
  4. do a 10% water change (I WC 5% weekly so it can wait 2 weeks without issue)
  5. check parameters (I'll monitor NH3 and PO4 every day, and adjust NOPOX if needed/ dose Lanthanum Chloride)
  6. My tank is 250L (66 Gallon) water volume, so 7 x 200mg capsules are already in 140ml of RODI water, hoping it will dissolve more over night. (after 3 hours it's not really dissolved, just sunk to the bottom)
  7. When I dose I will turn off all pumps, including return pump, and use a turkey baster to target large bryopsis areas and hard to get to areas too, and leave pumps off for 30 mins.
  8. I'll also dose half the Flucon in the DT and half in Sump, with refugium lights on as well, I'll start when all lights are at max.
  9. take starting pictures..... sit back and wait for it to die ! :)

Hey everyone.... update day 8 video on my tank :D

You're tank is almost your's again Jackie! It looks amazing already! Once all that green algae is gone those corals will quickly recover from your KNO3 mishap. You'll see what I mean very soon. You're corals are going to all going to look happier in short order.

Yes I agree! It is such a great feeling not fighting that algae every single day just to try, at best, to keep it under control. I can't say how much I appreciate NCreefguy for this thread and you for directing me too it. Plus all the help and encouragement from the both of you and Stevo01 that you gave me and to everyone else! This reef nightmare is finally solved!!! Yay!!! [emoji122] [emoji122] [emoji122]

My back doesn't hurt anymore, no more stooping over the tank with forceps!

No it probably hurts you now from sleeping on the floor next to the tank staring at your KHG screen all night. :p

Ahhh yes, rekindled love with a new toy [emoji7]

I'm happy not to be climbing on the stepstool and reaching up to my armpits getting soaked in saltwater LOL.

Congrats Jackie!!! I am 6 dats into treatment and my gha display is slowly becoming a reef tank again. Can not wit to get to the point that your tank is at. I noticed in your video how low your return is in your tank. Do you use an anti syphon valve to keep your tank from back syphoning? Thanks for sharing the inspirational video.

I had similar issue and I stopped dosing vibrant and slowly the cyano is clearing up.

Okay I need some help. My Cyano runnith over! So here is the deal. Started dosing Vibrant mid November. Took care of most what I needed to - except the bryopsis which we all know can be an issue with Vibrant. About a month (maybe 6 weeks) ago started getting some bad Cyano- was doing weekly 40 gallon changes on a 320 (ish) gallon system -Vacuuming- blowing off rocks etc etc etc.

Cut back vibrant to 1x a week from 2x a week.

Last night
Phos (Hannah ULR) 0.03
Nitrate - (red Sea) Undetectable
Calc - 420 (little low for what it has been)
ALK - 7.9dkh (little low for what it has been)
Mag - 1300

So I started the flucon 2 nights ago. I came home tonight and MAN the cyano has bloomed up big time. when i did my dose of flucon - i turned off carbon, GFO and UV. I turned my skimmer down just for O2 exchange (have a reeflo orca) Have the overflow going in the sump for now instead of bucket.

My ORP dropped about 75 points from last night to tonight.

Ride it out??? I blew off the rocks - was thinking i could do a waterless waterchange (one tank would need to drain through a sock into a barrel while I pump it back into the sump to get some out.

Ideas? Bueller bueller......

Thank you! Yes it feels great to have my tank back [emoji23] You're just about there too!!!

Yes, I have tiny holes drilled on a 45degree angle facing downward (very important to face down) just below the waterline. 2 on each in case one gets clogged or a snail blocks it. I actually have 2 return pipes there. The other one goes down to the sandbed and spans all the way to the column return like a spray bar. It is to keep water moving and fresh under the rock ridge as if it were being spring fed.

I know this has been said before and since not every one will read the whole thread I will say it again....

If you have cyano treat it 1st with chemiclean (red slime remover doesn't work as well especially if it was created by vibrant) and do a waterchange before you treat with fluconazole. You will be much happier for it. The fluconazole does not have any effect on it however because you will be turning off some of your mechanical filtration the cyanobacteria is likely to get worse during treatment. Better to do it in the beginning then suffer through it for two weeks.
