Just got mine in, gonna dose the tank tonight. Not sure it's bryopsis but I hope it knocks the hell out of my gha.
You will be doing the happy dance like the rest of us in no time!

Most likely it will wipe out the algae in your scrubber. Can you move it to a 5 gallon bucket to keep it alive?
Mine is running in front of the tank in a 5 gallon bucket with all my refugium algae, didn't want to lose my good algae

You might have bad stuff there be careful, I wouldn't take anything out to put back in if it wasn't treated...
I agree with what I'm going through to treat and rid I would not want to introduce anything back in that was already in the tank not treated. I'm at the point with even any new Coral or Frags I want to buy and trade locals so I can actually see the tank they're coming from I think this all started from a frag I received

Happy Valentine's Day everybody figures that today would be day 14 battling the stuff everything is going good down to the roots I tried starting of a lower dose of 22 capsules but now I'm up to the 30 that I ordered I have roughly 270 gallons in the tank things are looking very good but there still some to deal with I must of had a lot more than I thought some areas were pretty dark thick so I am very happy with the results so far I just want to make sure knock it out see how this goes for few more days and then if so maybe I'll order a whole Nother batch to do a full dose again.

I plan on using the Fluconazole in my coral QT.

I can remember back when I ran PCs or homemade MH/T12 light fixtures, used IO salt, dripped pickling lime, topped off water by hand using an old milk jug, used some calcium chloride and baking soda here and there not really worrying about much as far as nutrients or parameters and my corals grew so fast they would fill up the tank. Now I try to use all the "top of the line" equipment and additives and play the "lets chase numbers game" and have nothing but issues and stress. Go figure

I'm right there with you, NCreefguy...

20170214_110802.jpg I am at day 9 for treating gha. About 75% of it is partially white and looks sickly. The rest is still green. Not much change over the last 48 hours. Not sure that it is going to knock it out. Anyone else have a stagnant period at the 8 to 9 day time slot?

You and I started about the same time. I agree that between days 8-10 it appears to slow or stop. Might be that we either don't have enough cuc eating it or the algae was too long to start with to be absorbed to the root or both. Or maybe due to the amount of algae in the first place we should have done a stronger dose from the start. My worst locations were the longest strands also and slowest to go atm. I am ordering extra cuc today to see if that helps.

Happy Valentine's Day to you too Joseph! Yes I was just commenting that I think the people who have super bad infestations with it might have needed to dose a little more than the base dose. I think that it soaks up all there is in the water column from the tips to the roots and if there's not enough to reach the root then you're going to have some left or it'll take a bit longer to clear up and possibly need a second treatment. Mine is 95% gone on day 11. I have no doubt that the rest of it will be gone but I've been concerned with the roots remaining by day 14. I am probably going to do a water change at that time and dose the tank one more time for good measure. :D

I wanted to know why GFO must be take offline? I understand taking carbon/skimming offline because of the method to export meds; However, I thought that the whole point of GFO is to bind phosphates, which is probably released back into water when the algae is dying. Can someone chime in on how Fluconazole and GFO interact? I would like to bind and export the residual phosphates during treatment if possible if the two do not interact/bind. Thanks in advance.

I'm going to order some more. I'm at day 14 and have roots still. Ill give it a few more days before anything else. I ran my skimmer after the first dose and then turned it off sense then. I may have pulled some out not dissolved yet so I have added the rest in sense then. not sure about the strength in there now but it has worked. may skim for a few days then add a full dose in again to knock out the roots. Ill wait until day 20 before dosing again. going to turn on the skimmer in a few minutes.

on a sad note now I see a bunch of bubble algae. Time to get a new crew up in there. MY crew has dwindled over time to hardly nothing. I could use that vibrant stuff but wouldn't natural be better.

It doesn't have to be taken offline but this treatment was being tested without using anything else to aid in the process.(basically a stand alone treatment) First reports were that all media and filters were removed during the treatment and it was a success. Honestly I don't think it would hinder the treatment in any way to continue using gfo but it was just one of the things listed that was removed. I'm sure as more tests are being done,we will have a better understanding of what should and shouldn't work.

I am waiting till day 14 before I decide whether or not to treat a second time. If for no other reason inquiring minds want to know if 1 dose will kill it or not.

That's what i'm trying to avoid. I've seen many posts about cyano and other non affected algae increasing growth rates after killing off the bryopsis. If I can avoid fueling cyano and other algae the phosphates it would be nice. I feel like I would be robbing Peter to pay Paul. I have some biology under my belt, but im not a pharmacist lol.

Awesome that is what I wanted to hear. I was wondering if you some some post on another forum that I may of missed. I am going to experiment with GFO online. I will let you guys know how it goes. Thanks for the info NCRG!

Just to report I have gotten rid of all of my bryopsis with diflucan. It wasn't bad to begin with...I had a few patches but nothing smothering the coral or anything. I had previously used vibrant as directed and spot cleaned with H2O2. My system is a mixed reef but one that struggles with ULN and I feed heavy--daily to get NO3 to exist.

I kept everything the same, gfo, cheato reactor, ats and skimmer all running normally and did a 10% water change on day 8 (I usually do 10% a week anyway.)

ATS was fine
skimmer skimmed normally
I'm still at a ULNS.
The only thing that's kind of growing more is some red gracillia on the rocks from maricultured pieces that I plan to get a grazing fish to pick at.

okay so payless pets is limiting orders to only 20 capsules because we are ordering it all from them. lol this is great. they don't know what's up yet. maybe we can get a group buy from them when they order a new shipment and save some money.

Hey at least they want everyone to get some so they are limiting the orders.
its what is when you have a larger tank....
