I don't think anyone needs to worry about the single dose. I also don't think we need to remove it, unless there is a long term side effect. As what can occur in humans. Fish livers are different though, but maybe.

I have something to note 2 weeks after completion of the 14-day treatment. Since you no longer have the bryopsis to eat up your nutrients watch your no.3 levels. Mine have started to creep up LOL Just a little something to keep in mind [emoji12]

Starting treatment for 2 small tanks today.
Are we still going for the 20mg/gallon? Or will less work?
For extreeme cases or for faster results how much more can i safely dose?

I've updated the first post to include a note about reading the FAQs.
There's something else that probably should be added to the FAQ. We now know Purigen must be removed since it does remove the meds. And adding a light source to shaded algae locations aids in its die off also.

Thank you. Hopefully I was the only idiot who read 10 mg per gallon each day of the 14 days

It happens. Trust me...I've been reefing quite a while and I've made pleeennnttyyy of mistakes through the years. Most of my mistakes now are just not leaving something alone and trying to tweak it.:)

I would still go with 20mg/gallon. You can always run another treatment if it wasn't enough the first go around.

Still with 20mg per gallon. Better to do a 2nd treatment than to overdose. In extreme cases pull all you can BEFORE treatment.

Well I am afraid to even admit this but after all my grief today.. I learned a valuable lesson. Rtfm .. after seeing this treatment I rushed and saw 10mg per gallon ... 14 days .. then bought enough to treat all 14 days at 400mg EACH day.. just reread the first post. Was I seriously supposed to just dose once and WAIT 14 days ?!

Oh my goodness. So sorry about your losses. How many days at what concentration did you dose before you started having problems?

Update on dosing flucon in my 1.75 gallon reefbowl:

I am using a higher dosage than most--9 mg/liter which works out to about 34 mg/gallon.

Because I need less than a full capsule for my system, I miscalculated the dosage at first. I didn't account for fillers inside the capsules, in addition to the meds. Turns out the contents of a capsule weigh nearly 400 mg. Long story short, for the first week I used about half the indicated dosage.

Because I do 100% water changes weekly, I've been retreating with flucon each week.

I am now on day 22 at the full dosage (it's day 29 if you count the initial half dose). The flucon has eradicated 2 varieties of bryopsis or GHA. But a third variety is holding on and even growing. I have a good CUC and they only touch the stuff if i burn it with peroxide. I did a pretty aggressive peroxide spot treatment yesterday and plan to increase the flucon dose next week if I continue to see regrowth.

No ill effects on any of my corals or inverts.

Is it ok to turn on my uv sterilizer during the dose?

Flyconazole does NOT kill Bobbitt worms if anyone was wondering! However almost a month since treatment and no more bryopsis!
