Flyconazole does NOT kill Bobbitt worms if anyone was wondering! However almost a month since treatment and no more bryopsis!

Not sure if he has enough of them yet but @Wiz. He loves these creepy little monsters.

I'm on day 7 of the treatment in my 29 biocube. It is definitely killing the bryopsis. I will post some pics later on, but I'm thrilled as it was starting to strangle out some corals, especially some of my palys, and zoas. I tested my alkalinity last night with my hanna checker, and noticed pieces of bryopsis in the test vial!! :D

Hi and good work on this thread, so many people having great results, im planning on doing the treatment myself.. i have a 100L system give or take and im looking to dose 300mg of fluc. my system is non mechanical filtration just a box of rocks and an algae bed in the sump which has cheato calpura and hair algae growing in it.
my plan is to take the sump of line for a day, empty it clean it remove the algae. return the lr and put it back on line and start the treatment.. my question is.
with all the dying algae polluting the water column as it dies off wont this cause massive spikes in p03 and p04? i plan on doing a 50% wc at the end of the 14 days and possibly syphoning the dt thro a filter sock everyday during the treatment. im just concerned that huge swings in parameters will occur and at the moment my system is balanced well, i dont want to ruin the last years work just to rid some algae from my DT! im scared : ( can someone put my mind at rest and tell me its all going to be ok lol
Just my findings. I had a big po4 spike after my bryopsis died of. Usually undetectable but shot up to 0.5ppm. I did 2 x 30% water changes and then put my gfo reactor back on line. It's currently sat at 0.03 so can live with that. I'll do another large water change this weekend and take the gfo offline and continue to monitor.

Only saw a small No3 rise from 2 ppm up to 5 ppm. But I run siporax so this may of helped.

Either way best monitor and act accordingly. As always water changes are your friend [emoji4]

Randy Holmes Farley says running gfo won't hamper treatment as it isn't designed to pull out anything but phosphates. I had a really decent po4 spike and gfo came back online and took care of it. The jury is out on granulated activated carbon dot dot dot studies show it doesn't remove this medication so run it at your own risk. Although I found that I didn't even need it running my tank is still beautiful with GAC still not running two weeks after I finished treatment. Purigen does remove the medication so anybody wanting to use that should turn it off or remove it. UV should stay on if you use it. You are correct a No3 doesn't rise very much if at all. +1 on monitoring daily [emoji2]

My spike was noticed week 3 of the treatment. The bryopsis had all gone, but saw some of my corals PE was less. So tested the whole gamut. I've never had po4 issues before (it has all in the algea [emoji4][emoji4]) so should of been more proactive.

Another side I found my calc had risen from a 430 to 500 ppm! Not sure weather the po4 spike had prevented calc uptake or a by product of the fluconazole. I just stopped dosing and this has now fallen back in line.

I suppose the underlying message is as you are altering the tank dynamic quite quickly be prepared to act and test regular. ...... either way fluconazole is a god we all should kneel too [emoji4]

Lol absolutely!!! We should fly a blue and white capsule flag in its honor [emoji12]

I've been testing my tank twice-weekly now and today is the day once more. I'm in round 2 since yesterday merely because I saw a little root here and there that I don't want to grow or spread. It just never completely died out.
