Day 2
All with white tips, some floating around, left carbon and UV light on
I've been in this hobby since 1983
and have always fought this crap!
This might be the cure!

Well - not sure if I did not treat long enough or what my deal is but it came back and came back strong! I also had some GHA appear in the DT which I NEVER have had before. So last night I commensed round #2 I dosed 30 capsuls in about 260-270 total water volume tank. Skimmer empties back into the sump - I am keeping it on for the O2 exchange and UV is off. I am going to go to 4/1 before a water change.

haven't looked at thread in a while, I noticed some bryopsis is coming back as well. I thought it may have been due to the 3mg/gal dose that I used. Have enough meds left to nuke the tank. Was curious if those that had treated are still Bryopsis free?

I haven't had any bryopsis return in my tank.

So it's been 21 days since I dosed my JBJ 28 NC and have zero bryopsis and zero GHA!!! All me live rock is looking better than ever!

I'll have to login from my desktop soon to cast my vote.

Thanks to all for figuring out and documenting his process for a cure!

Curious.... what is your po4 and no3 at? I wonder if there is something in common between those who have a return going on. It could also be the species. There are many, 50+ in bryopsis alone. Of course without the proper equipment we will probably never know if that is true or not.

Day 1

I added 8x 200 mg pills to my aquarium (total water volume ~70G).

No water changes, no carbon, no UV, no protein skimmer or any other opportunity for accidentally removing the chemical. Only filtration is a filter sock that I did not remove/clean during the treatment period.

4 weeks later absolutely no change in bryopsis level.

My only guess is that perhaps the algae needs to be rapidly growing in order to be effected by the fluconazole? Compared to the pictures shown in this thread, I did not have much bryopsis to begin with and it was not really growing prior to beginning treatment.

Unfortunately not much I added 15 hermits a 2 emerald crabs the day before treatment. Still have a good bit in there.
See of you can get a few Mexican turbo snails. They'll help out s bunch

I don't know what day I am on. I think its day 9 or thereabout. But, I am feeling quite optimistic at this point. 85% to 95% of my bryopsis is gone. I have no GHA, I didn't in the first place. The red wire algae has turned white and long since been eaten by my emerald crab. The remaining bryopsis has gone from green to yellow to white. Now, half of it is brown with long single filament threads waving about.

If anybody is wondering. My serpent stars are starting to move around the aquarium again. There are and have been ZERO fluconazol related deaths to inverts or corals in my aquarium. All fish were removed and hospitalized for teh ich previous to bryopsis treatment.

Now I get to take on my bleaching chalice and birds nest that sit in the darker spaces of my tank. Id like to color them back up and get them into more prominent spaces in the display but that's for another thread.

go get a couple of mexican turbo snails. I had nassarius, cerith, dwarf cerit, florida nassarius snails with a few hermits, a lettuce nudibranch, and a emerald crab. they all helped. But, it wasn't until I put 5 Mexican turbos (its a 40g display) in my display that the dead bryopsis started really being removed.

Am I the only one who decided to not kill all the algae in my tank? I figure a tad in there is good for my algae grazers. Hope I don't regret it!o_O

I am going to try this:

If that doesnt work, I will re-home some of the clean up crew. However, I don't think I will have to re-home them. I have been cleaning the green film off of my glass every other day since the bryopsis has died and I rolled my carbon dose back to 33% of what it was.

I also just changed my vote from I am treating now to YES

Yeah if Vibrant is working for you then I probably wouldn't change anything. Something in Vibrant just didn't get along with my tanks chemistry. I kept getting long brown strands of slime with bubbles on the end and red cyano everywhere. Plus I burnt the tips of a lot of my sps from dropping the nitrates too quickly using it.I think some say that their tanks went through the same thing for a while before it cleared up but mine stayed that way for a couple of months.

This treatment has been pretty quick and no adverse reactions that I can find so far. I don't think that anyone else has reported back with anything bad about it either.

This is good insight, and exactly what is happening to my tank. I didn't put the two together. Vibrant worked well, but I definitely noticed the same side effects of slime and slightly burnt tips. The Fluconazole has definitely knocked the bryopsis and most GHA out. However, when I started vibrant one of my birdsnest colonies stopped fully extending polyps and some of the red/brown slime popped up. I didn;t put two and two together until I saw your post.

Once the bubble algae is completely gone I am going to scale back the vibrant and hopefully the slime goes away as well. It feels a bit like a case of the old lady who swallowed a fly. Emerald crab + vibrant got the bubble algae under control but gave me slime. What cures slime? lol

I have had my skimmer cup off since day one and just letting it overflow into the sump. When should/can I put the cup back on? Should I avoid skimmer until 2 weeks is up?

That answer is still out, some say leave off on whole treatment time,
I put mine back on line 4 days in.
All algae has white tips and is dying.
I figure maybe the first 24 hours is critical , once the damage is done I don't think you can reverse it.
More time will tell, I also left carbon in, it didn't stop the the algae from dying.
