I’m on day 11 of a reef flux treatment for bryopsis and have had no change at all. If anything, it has gotten thicker in areas. There has been no fading of color or die off from what I can tell. I have noticed that the rock has speckled as is consistent with videos that I’ve seen when researching its use. I dosed 800mg for a 40 gallon volume. I don’t run any media so there was nothing to remove. I also turned my skimmer off for the first 4 days. I’m going to do the water change in a few days and redoes to see if a second round will help. Not sure if it’s connected by I’m not seeing dark brown granules and spots through my sand bed.
do you have a pic of suspected bryosysis ? I’m on day 4 they some large patches are browning out while smaller patches look more healthy weird

It’s been like this consistently.

So I got Fluc from my local pharmacy and its not in a capsule form but rather a pill form and may be for humans. Is this different than what is needed?

That's the same question I've been asking. My feeling is, not so ideal because the tablet form has some dyes that contain aluminium, and other fillers that may or may not be inert. In my opinion, the capsule form would be better, because you can discard the capsule and what's inside should be pure.

So heres my first day of treatment went with 1600ml for the 80 gallon going by the 20ml/gallon. Now i do have some dinos on the sandbed since i pushed it back. Just gonna focus on making phosphates and nitrates to stay elevated although they may start to rise once the dieoff occurs so no need to dose it after a couple of days is my best guess. I used reefflux which is technically the same thing as any other flucazole at 200ML a pill

Are you trying to kill bryopsis or GHA? GHA can take a long time if ever to work. I would not use fluc for anything other than bryopsis.

I'm on day 13 of treatment. I have a 300 gallon fowlr so no need to worry about corals. I had it covering EVERY rock surface and it was on thick. I was able to remove about half my rock and scrub what I could off. I then reached in and scrubbed what I could inside the tank and did a 25% water change siphoning out what I could. Still quite a bit left in tank. I added 3 bottles of Reef flux (enough for the 300 gallons per directions) and right now it is almost all GONE! I'm super excited!

Bryosysis

I wonder if you can use this while fighting dinos, im currently dealing with both.
I would fight bryopsis first. It’s easier to get rid of and will help you with fighting Dino’s. 1) it takes only 14 days, 2) it will stop consuming all the no3 and po4 that you will need to fight Dino’s 3) if you dose no3 to beat dynos, bryopsis will explode in growth. I had dynos, no bryopsis, I started dosing nitrates and feeding more, added a UV, started dosing microbacter and syphoning our dynos from the rock with a smaller 1/2” tube into a filter sock into my sump, so I removed all the dynos from the rock every week, and my UV took care of anything that is left in the water. Once dinos dissapered my bryopsis covered literally everything because my tank finally had nutrients. I dosed flucanizole to get rid of it. Dino started coming back a bit.

One more update. More casualties to add to the list. In total I've lost the following
2 WD Frags
1 Pickachu
1 Red Planet
2 Rainbow Yumas
1 2GC mini colony
Almost all my snails

More and more sps corals started looking bad so I decided to pull the plug and added the activated carbon. Within 24 hours, I'm seeing some polyp extension back on a few and the snails that were still alive are no longer on their backs.

Whether it is the actual drug or toxins that may have been released, I think it's the responsible thing to do for the OP to post that some have reported losses. I should have read the thread in more details more but I did spend some time and missed this fact.
Question, where did you pour flucanizole? Sump or on top of the corals into DT?

Thats a good idea, im trying to get rid of this bryopsis for good since they dont come back if you make sure that every cell is dead. Would also help with keeping nutrients more stable to fight dinos. Also quick question should i turn my refugium lights back on? Since the die off of all that bryopsis will technically release nutrients that the chaeto will use to grow and maybe help outcompete any other algae in the DT?

Why turn off the lights in the refugium in the first place? I run my lights during 12 days therapy normally over chaeto 1r hours... no problems!!

I had to remove my chaeto as the dinos started there, killed my chaeto in about a month and then went to the DT. I used vibrant after that and it just made things much worse. Now i got new chaeto and turned the refugium lights back on. Also ive been having a hard time keeping phosphate above 0 and the refugium would have just made that worse.

One thing i havent seen being asked is if i can still run curpisorb throught the treatment just incase? Or does that affect it in any way?

Alright everyone been a while since I've followed the thread. Early on I tried fluco for my bryopsis and it worked like a charm. I have treated my 120 about two times with great success. Fast forward about a year and I had an outbreak again was busy it got pretty heavy and I ordered reef flux again and dosed one full bottle for my 120 plus sump. Didn't notice a change bryopsis still growing. Dosed a second bottle nothing still growing. Dosed the third bottle bryopsis still growing completely unaffected. Anyone experienced this yet? Did the change the formula? Has the algae grown some sort of immunity? What do you think? Thanks

I bought mines like a week ago and added 9 capsules of 200mg to my 75 gallon and its only been 5 days almost all the bryopsis is gone. I have been told to add a bit more reef flux then the recommended for it to work well.

I did three bottles 30 capsules for my 120 didn't do anything. Last time I did treatment for over a month and it actually took care of a terrible bubble algae outbreak I had as well. Not sure what to think. Maybe o will try some more had a bad batch idk

im on day 21, this last patch of bryosysis is turning all white grey and brownish and is still holding its form .. even most of the regular GHA died already,, should i continue letting treatment run ?
